The Zeppelins are Back and Flying Around San Francisco Bay
Those huge blimps – like the famous Hindenburg zeppelin that burned when it was landing in New Jersey in 1937 – are flying again; this time around San Francisco Bay. Of course, the new ones are filled with helium, not hydrogen, and thus are not flammable. The news ships are technical wonders, and the views are spectacular.
Airship Ventures are flying zeppelins filled with helium around San Francisco Bay. The new hulls are a rigid structure made of aluminum and carbon-fiber with a type of unibody design with the passenger cabin makes for a quieter ride with fewer vibrations, and these zeppelins are quiet so the ride is like floating in the air. The three engines can be rotated for various aerial maneuvers and agility in the air. Here is a picture of the zeppelin from the Airship Ventures website.
The new Airship Ventures zeppelin is filled with non-flammable helium. Earlier zeppelins were filled with hydrogen, which is flammable. The famous Hindenburg burst into flame on landing in 1937 in New Jersey killing 35 of 97 people in the zeppelin. Here is a picture from Wikipedia of that disaster.
The zeppelins flying around the San Francisco Bay from Airship Ventures are flying in one of the world’s most picturesque areas and offer stunning views because the zeppelin flies at a fairly low altitude.

The Airship Ventures zeppelins are stored at one of the few facilities in the world that can accommodate such a large ship — the former Navy station Moffett Field in Mountain View, California. The zeppelins are huge, and the hangers at Moffett Field are even bigger.
