How Effective Are Biofuels?

How effective are these biofuels? They are eco-friendly and less expensive than petroleum-derived fuels. A recent study from the Oregon State University said that ethanol, derived from celluloid plants like sugarcane, is 85% efficient –surpassing the efficiency of gasoline made from petroleum and even nuclear energy. We all know the benefits of biofuels.

Watching the Back to the Future 2 movie, one cannot help but be amazed as to how producers, novelists and scientists conceived the year 2000. In the story, it is 2015 wherein the characters, being transported in a time machine, used flying cars with the surroundings so beautiful and healthy. Now, looking at 2008, seven years away from what is predicted, one can say that we have not made leaps and bounds with progress. We are not using flying cars. Instead we use cars that largely depend on fossil fuels. Now, with the introduction of biofuels in the market, we could have changed the course of history as biofuels offer and suggests solutions that open our doors for new innovations in the future.

Let’s use the gears in our time machine and will visit 2030 when it is predicted by analysts that our market will soon shift from fossil fuels to biofuels. Analysis on oil future consumption in the New York Stock Exchange said that crude oil will drop to 40$ in that time as biofuels will gain its momentum in the race. Analysts predicts that 10% of the fuel-consuming public in the whole world will demand ethanol. The demand will further increase in the year 2035. Biofuels will surely gain a sire 7% demand from all countries if the government will support and promote the use of biofuels.

We may not be riding in flying cars in 2015. And our growing problems on the environment will still be present. But if countries would support biofuels, who knows, this will set our scientists’ wild imagination on flame. It may even help them inspire to realize that era when we are flying from our polluted environment from the past and welcome a beautiful world in the future.
