THE Nuclear Activities

Basic definitions for certain nuclear activities.

1.       Nuclear fission
2.       Nuclear fusion
3.       Nuclear Reactor
4.       Nuclear Energy

Nuclear fission:  Nuclear fission is a nuclear reaction in which an atomic nucleus is split into smaller nuclei and energy in a nuclear reactor.

Nuclear fusion: This refers to a nuclear reaction in which small atoms come together to form a combination of a heavier atom and energy.

Nuclear Reactor: This is a specially built enclosure in which controlled nuclear fission reactions take place.

Nuclear Energy: Nuclear energy refers to the type of energy that is released in both fission and fusion reactions. With this, a small mass of the atom is converted into energy. NB: Nuclear energy is used to produce electricity and atomic bomb.

    Thanks for the nuclear terminology. It offers a better or layman’s understanding of nuclear physics. Now I know where they get nuclear family from. Thanks for sharing.
