The Future of Technology
Ever wondered what technology will be like 10 years from now? Well just read and find out!
Human technology has been advancing at an exponential rate in that past 3 decades. In just the past ten years, we have seen memory capabilities reach into the terabytes while only a few megabytes was considered a lot a few years back. Computers and electronic advancement has been so fast that the capabilities of computers, TV’s and other electronics basically double every 2 years or so. Many new robots have also been created and the thinking capabilities in them have been increased dramatically.
In the next 10 years, technology will increase even faster. Just last year the Japanese invented a robot suit that would fit onto the body and help give an adjustable 2x to 10x the amount of force the person is using. This invention would really benefit the elderly and the disabled. But the problem with these mechanical enhancements is that if an able bodied person used them often, they would lose muscle pretty fast and greatly increase their chances of physical injury or disabilities later on in their lifetime.
Computers advance so fast that new computers seem to be outdated in a year. At this rate of advancement, a personal computer 10 years into the future might be 25 times better than today’s computers. Along with more memory, programs and software can only continue to advance resulting in more space used in flash drives (hard drives are outdated). So an average computer in the future might have 100GB of ram and 16 terabytes of storage. (100GB of ram does not seem unlikely because 5 years ago, the average computer had 128MB of ram, now it is 3GB, 24 times more). Along with the better hardware, there will be better ease of use. Examples include touch screen computers, minuscule sized computers, motion sensors for gaming and mind reading computers so there is no need for physical movement (there is already things like voice recognition and face detection).
Robots are definitely going to be used in the future. They are already used in factories to manufacture products, used in products like the roomba vacuum and other various ways to resemble human movements. Some already made ones include a robot server in a restaurant in Japan, a robot that plays ping pong and robots that can have conversations with people.
New technologies will have many positive and negative impacts on our everyday lives. For example, positive outcomes include improving our health, making things easier and providing better entertainment. A robot that can unclog arteries inside the blood vessel has already been invented. Roomba vacuums and Scooba floor cleaning are both robots that help us do everyday chores. Entertainment includes new motion sensing, speech and expression sensing to help aid gaming. TV’s could be as thin as paper so they could be put up anywhere and carried away with ease.
The negative things that come with technological advancements include physical retrogression and the threat of robots. Things like better medicines diminish our immune systems making us more vulnerable to weak new strains of viruses. New super bugs become a threat when only certain bacteria are targeted leaving them to multiply as many times as they want. To treat this problem humans create more antibiotics with the same results of new superbugs. If we never created all these medicines in the first place, this would not be happening.
There is also a threat of robot attacks. Right now the brain of a robot is still pretty simple, but it is scary to think that robots can already have conversations and make its own decisions. In the future, robots could possibility have feelings, if they get mad at humans they could retaliate. It doesn’t take much brains to use a weapon against someone. Everyone thinks robots aren’t smart enough to attack humans. But in reality, all they really have to do is obtain some weapons of mass destruction and they would threaten the human species. Robots are not weak like humans and will not die if hit by a few bullets. So they need get destroyed in order to stop them.
The next technological advancement would most likely be robots. They help us everywhere and can do jobs like housecleaning, building and playing ping pong. The future of technology is clear, there are going to be great improvements to current technology and many new technologies will be discovered and invented. I am just not sure if they would benefit us or harm us…

The tone of this article is hilarious, especially if you read the first sentence of each of the last three paragraphs.
To sum it up: “I am deathly afraid of robots…they are going to kill us all.”
