The E-scooter Project

A little project with an old electric scooter.

So I found an old, dusty and rusty E-scooter from our garage. After searching for a fitting power cord I found out that it actually works! However, the drive belt snapped. So I realized, why just fix this, when I could break it apart and replace some parts with new ones. Originally, it was equipped with a small 100W motor, small solid wheels and pretty lame batteries. My father owns a company that sells home appliances, so it was easy to find an old washing machine to take apart and take some of the parts. I reused the electric motor, which required for me to modify the chassis of the scooter, and the drive belt. I was quite surprised to find out that the drive belt fit in perfectly. Next, I cut a part of the chassis away from the back, under the brakes, so I could replace the back wheel with a bigger one taken from a package-carrier. Now I just need to replace the front wheel, which requires a bit of modifying since it wont fit and the chassis can’t be cut from there… unless you want to make it a two wheeler electric skateboard. I also need new batteries, as the old ones are lead-acid batteries that suck.
