The Demise of Paper

Printing plants continue to dissolve in number as the electronic age blossoms unabated.

Paper, such an auspicious past pedigree,

Marginalized by the age of electronic communication

Once the singular medium for documentation,

Nowadays placed in the frame of an antique

To the traditional cognoscenti’s dismay, electronic correspondence has emerged as a dominant form,

Nullifying the influence of the written word imprinted by human being to paper

The simplicity of a handcrafted letter cannot be understated,

As advocating for the preservation of trees is a misguided point of view,

Since nature regenerates, but electronic devices simply accumulate in the environment

Some pine for the days when volumes were measured by the pages in a book, not in the size of one’s electronic mail inbox
