New Year, Two Months Arrive at Space Vehicle
Published by Also opened in 2012 with exciting news. Two NASA spacecraft, GRAIL GRAIL A and B, has entered into lunar orbit and ready to uncover the secrets of Earth’s only satellite that.
GRAIL is an extension of the Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory. Mission cost 496 U.S. dollars this is one of NASA’s ambition to re-study the Earth’s only satellite.
GRAIL A has arrived in the month on Sunday morning (01.01.2012) while GRAIL B arrived around 4:05 pm Monday (01/02/2011) morning. Both arrived after menemupuh within 3.5 months since its launch last September.
GRAIL A and B will continue to move closer to finally arrive at a distance of only 55 km from the Moon’s surface. Both will work for 82 days and is at a distance of 121-362 km from each other.
NASA will use the GRAIL A and B to create a detailed map of the Moon’s gravitational field. This map will help scientists uncover the composition of the Moon and the processes of formation and change.
There are allegations that the Moon formed from the objects of Mars hit the Earth millions of years ago. Scientists suspect, there are 2 Months earlier, but one more strike destroyed our moon now, until the only remaining one.
GRAIL mission also intends to popularize science in children. As they orbit the Moon at close range, GRAIL will take the image of the Moon’s surface and sent to Earth to be enjoyed by children.
As reported by Space on Sunday (01.01.2012), data collection GRAIL mission will begin later in March 2012. Let’s wait what surprises will be given by the two spacecraft of this twins.
