Junk food, so called that because these foods do not contain the nutrients that are good for the body. In a study with mice, researchers known that eating junk food can cause changes in the brain that trigger anxiety and depression if you stop consume them.
Researchers from the University of Montreal found that mice given foods that high in sugar and fat such as junk food has a different chemical activity in the brain. In fact, they show withdrawal symptoms when the food was stopped.
A study published in the journal A Neurology, also showed a high consumption of foods that containing trans fats with decreased brain function and brain volume.
