Getting Rid of Tree Stumps Naturally
Gardens.
One often has to remove a tree growing in the garden. Sometimes a tree has to be removed because it has got old and is in danger of falling and causing injury to ourselves or passer byes.
Another reason for tree removal might be that it is growing too close to the house and its roots might run the risk of undermining the house foundations. This can be particularly true of trees like weeping willows and some birches. Lastly a tree might simply be growing in the wrong place, this often happens when buying a new home. Each of us has our own ideas on how a garden should be and a tree might be growing where we have plans for something else and has to go.
Cutting down a tree is hard enough and sometimes requires a specialist to do the job effectively and safely. However, once the tree has been chopped down and taken away there is still the tree stump to attend to. If the tree stump is left in the ground it can be just as much in the way as the tree itself was in some instances. Certain trees are tenacious and almost immediately start to grow again and if left any amount of time will soon become a small unwanted bush.
How can one get rid of the tree stump naturally? One way is to cut the stump as close to the ground as possible and apply the fresh tree stump with Epsom salts and the treatment will need covering with sawdust or soil. This should kill the tree stump over time.
Another method is burn the tree stump. The easiest way is to saw groves into the stump and build a fire on the surface of the stump as the fire rages it will catch and start to burn away the stump itself. Once the fire is out one should be able to dig away what remains of the charred stump.
If you have time you can stop the stump from receiving light by covering it with something. This will prevent new growth thus allowing the stump to slowly decay and die naturally.
One can also drill holes in the tree stump and fill the holes with nitrogen fertiliser. This will encourage fungus to grow which will eventually kill the stump by decomposition of the wood.
Lastly drill or bore out a large hole fill it with soil and plant some plants. Watering and fertilising the plants will over time kill the tree stump
