Green Energy Sources Can Make The World a Better Place
Fossil fuels have been relied on for many years now, providing electricity and heat for our homes, along with gas for our cars. More is being used than ever, so it is only natural to think that the supplies are running out. Of course, it is hard to measure how much there is, since most of it is buried underground, and it is hard to know who to trust any more.
It certainly is true, that the pollution that is caused from using fossil fuels is causing problems for the planet. Using green energy sources is something that people can do to make the world a better place to live.
Maybe it is hard to change from fossil fuels to green energy overnight, but even learning to use them together will start to make things better. It might be true that green energy sources won’t supply all the energy needed for the world, but doing anything is better than doing nothing. Think about how different the world would be if every vehicle run with gasoline, was replaced by hybrids. Any time a vehicle uses something other than a fossil fuel, the atmosphere gets cleaner. Nothing harmful is produced by the various green energy sources, like hydro-power, wind, solar, geothermal or wave, and the environment doesn’t receive any negative effects from them.

The opposite is what happens when the energy comes from a nuclear power plant or one that is coal. Carbon dioxide is released into the air from coal, which might not be that big a deal, except there are 50,000 coal plants throughout the world. This number is expected to grow in the future, which will only make things worse. As long as there are no problems, nothing harmful is released into the air from nuclear power plants, but nuclear wastes still need to be taken care of. If an accident occurs, then the problems begin. Green energy sources might not be without their own problems, but they cost less to maintain than conventional means, and in the long run, they will save money in operational costs.
One of the best advantages for using sources of energy that are green is that they don’t run out. If the sun ever quits shining, not much else is going to matter very much. Some places don’t get a lot of wind, but there are other places where it blows all the time, so they would be great for wind power. When the fossil fuels are gone, something else will need to be used, so why not start now, instead of leaving the problem for the next generation. The answers for solving the energy problems are out there, but for some reason, even with all the talk, not much has gotten done.
Talking about our environmental problems, or running out of fossil fuels, doesn’t mean much, unless something is going to be done about it. If it is left up to each individual it probably won’t be done. It will only happen with the leadership of governments and big businesses.
