What is Geothermal Power?

Geothermal power is the utilization heat produced by the Earth, to provide energy for consumption.

There are two main types of Geothermal Power…

First, steam or hot water produced inside the earth can be used to heat buildings or generate electricity. This form of geothermal power is only available in areas near steam vents, which normally are found surrounding the Ring of Fire.

Second, stored heat can be extracted from inside the earth from the original formation of the planet, radioactive decay of minerals and solar energy absorbed at the surface. This can be accomplished by running water through pipes that run underground and extract heat to be used to heat residential homes and businesses.
