Gale Crater Planet Mars Seen in 3-d
Gale Crater Planet Mars Seen In 3-D.
Picture of Gale Crater on Mars can be seen by using the Visible-Light Information from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, Mars Express Orbiter and the NASA-European Space Agency.
Crater rocks that have survived this early history records how the environment is the red planet.
A number of instruments on the orbiter has detected the presence of several mineral deposits and salt sulfate concentrated in holes. Greater amount of minerals concentrated in the foreground, and these differences suggest the possibility of the occurrence of environmental changes on ancient Mars.
The existence of small hills in the image can provide clues towards the water cycle that once flowed on Mars. Different variations of sunlight has affected the soil temperature and evaporation rate.
Astronomers believe that due to the increase of temperature, water in the salt sulfate on the hillside to evaporate, while the salts absorb water when the temperature drops.
Mars Reconnaisance Orbiter has detected surface features of the changing seasons with changes in some of the hills, as in Newton Crater.
The possibility of flowing water is salty, according to new research announced by NASA.
