Finding The Right Road Side Assistance

Are surrounded by technology in the home and at work. We only have to push a button and we get a coffee delivered at the base of the machine. We only have to order something over the internet and it is delivered to our home, in a matter of days. Whilst driving our cars we are surrounded by even further advancements in mechanical technology, such as EFI, ITD, ECU, CAWD and so much more.

We are surrounded by technology in the home and at work. We have parking censors allowing us to park without coming into contact with a tree or other car. We have smart braking which means the car will not skid out of control if we need to do an emergency stop, and we have stop start which allows us to save fuel whilst in heavy traffic.

Gone are the days where you can have a fiddle with a screwdriver in an attempt to fix your broken down car. If your modern car breaks down, it is almost certain you will have to have a professional car mechanic attend with an arsenal of computers and instruments to diagnose the fault. As this is probably not going to happen, it is a given you will need road side assistance (we Danes call it Autohjælp i hele Europa ) and recovery.

There are many forms of road side assistance and you have to be sure you get the cover you need. If you travel a long way to work on a daily basis and your journey encompasses motorways, it would be wise to have full road side assistance with recovery. I always consider the home start option as an add on to the main road side assistance policy it is a great benefit, as normally that is where you will encounter a flat battery after having left your head lights on overnight. No matter what the fault the road side assistance company, has a duty of care and are contracted to either fixing your car, or recovering it to a garage of your choice.

It is far better for the road side assistance company to fix your car on the spot. Recovering is costly so they are motivated to get you on your way. I do believe as the car’s technology increases, it will become the norm to recover rather than try and fix on the road side. As cars become more and more advanced and we have other fuels to consider such as electric, hydrogen and hybrid cars, it will become unknown for the road side assistance company to fix your car unless it is a simple puncture, or you have run out of diesel or petrol.

When you take out your road side assistance policy, ensure you cover all your motoring needs, I always get the full road side assistance package including home start, road side recovery and I always include the courtesy car feature, so I am always mobile. As a feature of my road side assistance cover it is me covered not a particular car. If I travel with a friend and they break down I can still call.
