Rocket Car to Beat World Speed Record by 2011

The Bloodhound Rocket Car is expected to be released by 2011 in an attempt to beat the World Speed Record.

A group of people lead by Richard Noble has teamed up to make a Speed Machine to be known as the Bloodhound SCC. (Super Sonic Car)

The Bloodhound is attempting to go over 1,000 MPH and break the current world land speed record, which is 763 MPH set by the Thrust SCC.

The car is going to be driven by Andy Green, an experienced Royal Air Force fighter pilot who set the current record.

The car will be powered by jets and rockets, which will pull Andy Greene the around 4 Football fields in a second, 0 – 1,050 MPH in 40 seconds or otherwise 50m in a blink on an eye.

Andy Green has said “I’ve met graduate engineers who are adamant that our previous record was what inspired their career choice as youngsters: that sort of thing makes all the effort worthwhile. BLOODHOUND SSC will be so much faster and, we hope, will fire up every school kid about the science and technology. We’re going to invite everyone to follow our adventure in this, the most exciting and extreme form of motor sport – the World Land Speed Record. Both as a Mathematician, and as a Royal Air Force Fighter Pilot, I can’t think of anything better.”

The Bloodhound’s tires will be 12.8 meters long, and weigh 6.4 Tons each.

These tires will spin 10,000 times a minute, or 166.6 times in a second!

And with them statistics, the community acknowledgement has been very significant.

The Bloodhound has a number of sponsors including the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Academy of Engineering.

This piece of extreme engineering is expecting to be finished by 2011.

The Bloodhound’s tyres are 16.8m long and 16.4 tonnes each? What? I think they meant to say the vehicle is 16.8m long, and weighs that much fully loaded. I believe the tyres are about 1m in diameter.
