Weapons of Mass Destruction: Nuclear Bombs
Some asked questions about nuclear bombs. I wish you enjoy it.
Before you go on please read the following: I am against war, weapons, and destruction. I just made this article to show you the power that we can have in our hands, and the bad use we give to it. It is really sad how humans use their money and intelligence to kill each other instead of helping people that suffers of malnutrition or illnesses.
What is a nuclear weapon?
A nuclear weapon is an explosive device that works with nuclear reactions. It can derive from Fission or Fusion. The explosion is based in a non-controlled “chain reaction”. The first nuclear weapon exploded in Nuevo Mexico, USA, in 1945. One month later, the same country attacked Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the same weapons, ending with the World War II.

Does nuclear energy have other uses?
This kind of energy is often used by chemical and energy centrals. Thanks to nuclear energy, elements like Einsteinium and Fermium were discovered, and also there exist lots of energy centrals around the world that provide energy for millions of people.

What types of atomic bombs exist?
There are two types of nuclear bombs. The first that were created are Fission bombs. These produce their explosive power through nuclear fission. The energy released by these bombs ranges between a ton of TNT to 500.000 tons. The second type, called “thermonuclear bombs”, produces energy through nuclear fusion reactions. Only six countries all over the world have detonated one of this. These bombs can release the energy equivalent to 50 million tons of TNT.

How do the scientists test them?
Firstly, there are 3 types of nuclear tests:
Underground: They are tested underground, at varying depths. They can produce earthquakes, and an explosion full of radioactive rubbish.
Underwater: They are tested underwater to evaluate the effects of these bombs against the enemy navy. The explosion can produce tsunamis, which are charged radioactively.
Atmospheric: They are tested in the atmosphere in order to evaluate the level of destruction caused to a city, or other places.

Where are they tested?
As these weapons of mass destruction were tested by lots of countries, there are also lots of places where they were evaluated. But, the most known places are, by far, Nevada and Marshall Islands. After the nuclear bomb tests, these places became inhabitable by any kind of life, from vegetables to humans. The evaluation of these weapons caused earthquakes, tsunamis and also hurricanes that increased the damage caused.

Good discussion here. I’ve also written one article on this war.
Take care and good luck!

I am strictly against war. I don’t even like nuclear power plants. I am scared to death of them.I am afraid of all the waste we have stacked up and what we can do with it. It is a nightmare.
