Pollution Solution
A creative idea from my mind that talks about removing pollution from the air on a mass scale.
For starters, this article is dedicated to dreamers, thinkers, innovators & everyone who wants to breathe clean air. This idea came to me while I was driving from Sacramento to Los Angeles. As I drove closer to “The City of Angels” via interstate 5, I couldn’t help but to notice how much smog was in front of me as far as the eye could see!! I remember thinking to myself it was ridiculous we would allow such harm to our own environment. As I drove more into the pollution, I realized mankind has to figure out a way to remove smog and air toxins. Then it came to me, much like the Ionic Breeze from Sharper Image can clear a room of smoke and odors; why hasn’t anyone attempted to develop something like the Ionic Breeze, but on a massive scale?
So this is my invention idea. The Hybrid Air Breeze Tower.
Modeled after a tower I saw in San Francisco called 1 Ricon Hill.
I believe it would be achievable to combine on a mass scale the technology in the Ionic Breeze and integrate it on into high rise complexes. Ocean water can be pumped directly to the top of the high rise tower. With the flick of a switch, the building could start electro statically charging beam plates that span the height of the building. Mass scale fans could pull the pollution from the outside and pass it though the building. Special sensors could be setup on the beam plates that activate cleaning processes that uses the recycled ocean water to wash down the collection of pollution into a water treatment plant that is treated and used over again.
The Hybrid Air Breeze Tower would contain translucent photovoltaic windows so the amount of energy usage would be minimal. The building could also have mixed residential and commercial usage capabilities. Crowing the top of the Hybrid Air Breeze tower, a giant sized LED billboard much like the one in Times Square, which could contain the sponsorship of companies and individuals who helped fund and make the building a reality. Just think, with a little imagination, one of these massive high rise buildings in every polluted city could genesis a whole new era in how we perceive and breathe air. Simple, elegant, and eco friendly, who else thinks that this is a great idea?

If you live in a big city, you are probably used to seeing pollution and smog. Hopefully someday my dream of cleaner air will come true.

Its a nice concept, although in case of high winds the stability & safety of the building would be doubted. But definitely something one should try to see if this is really practical. I like the idea though.

How did you think of that? I had a vision of all the smog in the LA area just creeping into the structure and not coming back out. What a truly unique idea that sounds practical.

We have no mean to bring to zero pollution as it’s a transboundary issue. We can only minimise the ratio of pollutants to its minimal by introducing devices that can filter out the pollutants before releasing them to the air. Your idea is brilliant in this case but how many people can employ this to its wide coverage? There might be a debate on this topic then.

I think it is a great idea but there are some people that can’t take the ions. It gives them a problem breathing. But then again so does smog!
I have been testing some of these ionizers out but not for the same reason. As you know I’m into the paranormal and found that the charge in the air can create or bring forth spirits and paranormal activity.

You could avoid the ion problem by engineering a larger version of the “Air Washer.” Rotating disks partially submerged in water get dusty in the polluted air. Then the dust / particles get washed off as the dusty part rotates into a pool of water.

Since an air washer increases humidity, it would be best suited for drier climates. Seems like it would be possible to optimize the size and scale so it could be solar / renewable powered.
Surely someone has already invented this!
