Again, The Courageous Children Risked Their Life Passing a Broken Bridge for School in Lebak, Banten

Dangerous action of courageous kids was seen again on Lebak, Banten, Indonesia. Friday morning, the courageous kids traversed a broken bridge ‘Indiana Jones’ for going to school.

Liputan6.com reported that school children of Ciwaru village, Sangiang Tanjung, Lebak, Banten, was forced to traverse a broken bridge on Friday morning, February 4, 2012. They passed the dangerous bridge over Ciberang River after no one operates raft or boat to cross them.

2 courageous boys, Arif and Ilham, passed the broken hang bridge although fear. They traversed the broken bridge to take sloop for their friends whom waiting. They helped their friends to cross the Ciberang River.

Before, after the bridge broken because of flood, there were some people operating raft and sloop to cross children and villagers. They prefer pass the river than take a long way round. But that morning, no operator and the sloop was on the across the river.  So the children traversed the broken bridge to go to school. Yes, they risked their life for going to school.

Condition of the bridge and struggle of children for school in Sangiang Tanjung has got public attention in Indonesia since January ago. Press in Indonesia has reported it to compare with renovation of parliament building that very expensive. Or to compare with facilitation of members of parliament.

Foreign press also gave attention to the courageous kids. Daily Mail mentioned that action of children on the bridge look like action of Indiana Jones on the movie ‘Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom’. That’s why the broken bridge is known as bridge ‘Indiana Jones’.

Actually District Government of Lebak has closed the broken bridge since January ago. Since the bridge was damage and dangerous because of flood. Flood on January 2012 destroyed 14 bridges in Lebak including bridge in Sangiang Tanjung.  Now, the new bridge has been being built, and it needs time. Whereas alternative road has not finished.
