Theoretical knowledge may not be always useful in practical applications. The learning of primary colors is very true to the aforementioned statement. Though the textbooks claim the Red, Green and Blue (RGB) to be primary colors, here are a few practical areas, where colors need to be derived in different way.

What we absorb as colors through our eyes is the light reflected from objects. The part of spectrum that is reflected from the surface of the objects reaches our eyes. Therefore, the color of the objects is determined by the reflected parts of the spectrum.

It is a colorful world around us. Books and research (even the simplest of prism-based experiments) suggest that light emanating from sun is white in color and this can be broken down into a spectrum of seven colors. So, what makes the objects around us appear in different colors? Some animals such as the butterflies and rainbow parakeet have all colors on them.
