The oldest hominid footprints in the world were found a few months ago. They showed a big toe and four smaller toes. What became more fascinating was that these were straight toes – not curved, as in our ape-like ancestors, proving that this creature walked upright. We never give our big toe the attention it deserves. The big toe is strength. The big toe is fortitude. Without it, you wouldn’t be able to walk.
