Astronomical discoveries in 2012 has changed what we know about the universe and push some of the instruments to the limit of their ability to observe.
Here is a summary of some of the findings of the most extreme and most interesting cosmic year.
The U.S. space agency NASA has revealed a bunch of supermassive black holes and the "extreme" of galaxies, called "hot dogs" (hot dogs – dust-obscured galaxies – galaxies in the nebula).
Most three-dimensional map of the universe was created with light of 14 000 quasars, supermassive black holes in the center of galaxies billions of light years from Earth.
Astronomers were able to achieve the biggest and most detailed 3D map of the universe, and also to show the world how they look 11 billion years ago: at that time had just formed galaxies.
