Scuba divers frequently come across sea slugs. They are prolific sea creatures found in a wide range of marine environments from the poles to the tropics. They can also be found beached along the shoreline after being washed-up by currents or stranded on an ebb tide. These small critters may look as harmless as a shell-less snail, but be wary. It turns out some are highly toxic and, if swallowed, cause violent illness and possibly even death.
