As I say again, knowing the answers will not make us smart; not knowing the answers does not mean we’re not brilliant. It’s just a matter of memory. The emergence and growth of trees during the Paleozoic era favored the emergence of new types of rivers. The rivers have very different paths: straight, sinuous, with a single channel, or multiple arm around sandbars, gravel and pebbles or vegetated islands. Neil Davies and Martin Gibling, geologists from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, showed that the appearance and development in the long run rivers with stable channels coincides with the evolution and growth of trees.
