When the National Hurricane Center declared Sandy a “post-tropical storm” just before it made landfall, a lot of homeowners across New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Maryland may have saved a lot of money. The governors of these states have told insurance companies that because the storm was not classified as a hurricane, the insurers can’t enforce costly hurricane deductibles on storm-related claims.

As we ventured around some towns in Monmouth County, NJ which was the worst hit by Hurricane Sandy, we took some pictures to show you the impact. These pictures were taken on Friday; five days after the storm.

Many of us in Cambridge, Maryland breathed a sigh of relief the day after Hurricane Sandy’s visit, especially after hearing about the widespread devastation it left in New Jersey and elsewhere. Nonetheless, I would like to share some pictures for you taken after Sandy traveled further west then north.
