The natural warmth of the chest makes the menthol vapors pass into the air which is then inhaled. The menthol vapors help clear blocked noses and make breathing easier. But there is still no cure for the common cold. The menthol vapors cannot pass through the skin and go straight to the lungs. The warm feeling they give is comforting but won’t help cure your cold.
