Would You Visit The Past?

If you could travel into the Past, where would you go and would you go at all?

Was there a time in your life when you regretted doing something and wish that you could go back and change things, like make another decision or won’t go to some party or the opposite, attend some meeting you ignored, or give a more polite answer to someone, knowing now (from the present time point of view) that this person will die short time after that and you will never have another chance to do it?  Did you? I’m sure that happened to everyone… at least once. Sure there are people who simply are living on the Earth only in the present time, like a butterfly… like they have only one day to live, so they live it in its fullest…and never regret anything, even though living their pleasant life they easily can hurt some one’s feelings in the process, or bring harm to others… They don’t care… But I’m not talking about them (butterflies), but about people who are live their present life, using knowledge and experiences from the past and are curious about the future…

One friend of mine asked recently: “Suppose, you get a time machine, with which you can travel into the past. But you can go only one time in past, then what year of the past will you go to?”

Some said that they would go to their own past and don’t mind re–living their life but with ‘help’ of modern technological and electronic tools, like iPhone, iPad, etc.. Other wanted to explore Wild West back in 1880’s. Where would you go, reader? Will you go to your childhood or to some special event in your life like a wedding or a graduation? Or to the Stone Age, or the time when dinosaurs were walking around and people have never been seen yet? Or like one person said, that he would go to the time of Jesus Christ to see if he existed or not…

I asked myself this question many times… and you know what? I think that if person doesn’t like his/hers present life then he/she would probably choose a day and time and place where he/she wants to go and they will do it (if time machine exist, of course)…

Let us suppose that such a machine exists and a time was chosen and the person goes to their past… Suppose it is you who decided to go… Do you really believe that going to your past and changing it a little bit will improve your present time and (or) future as well? And what if it doesn’t?

You will never be the same you as you are now again, and never will experience anything over again from your life (I bet that everyone has at least one-two happy moments in their life whatever how short it is at the moment)… You’ll never be you, yourself as you are now. Do you really want to just cross everything out and start all from scratch from that chosen point? Who knows would it be a better choice or not… you might not even remember that you had live somewhere else and how you lived it… because life is like a puzzle picture…if you remove one piece from it (yourself) then the puzzle will fall apart and would never be the same as before even someone else will try to put all pieces back together, except yours of course…

Thinking about it for a while, I decided that if I had such opportunity I would simply pass it…wouldn’t use it… Why? The answer is simple… There is a proverb: you can’t step in the same river/water twice… which means that life will not go the same path as it planned to go before, because you changed it… by going in the past.

That is my answer …for now…Who knows maybe everything will come to such a point that facing something new, absolutely unknown future of your “second chance life” will seem like the only “right” thing to do..

What would your choice be?

Well, if I have such an opportunity, I would definitely not pass it. :-) My adventurous nature wouldn’t let me to miss a chance to jump back a century ago where women were women, but not unisex creatures and so on…

Wow, this is a good question. I did not really enjoy my childhood so I would not want to go back. I have made my mistakes and believe that I have learned from them. To go further back I would be afraid of changing the fabric of time and really screwing things up somewhere.

Plenty of food for thought here. Thanks

I wish if I could go back to my moms womb where I was completely secured and cared.
