THE Most Exciting Turning Point in Physics History
Its all about the wave going around about the God’s particle.Does it really exist?
The hunt that began around 40 years back about HIGGs particle when physicists assembled, is what now known as the standard model. The model is the result of a long and arduous search for the fundamental constituents of matter and the forces that determine how they interact. It began somewhere around 2400years ago with Greek Philosopher assuming that everything is made up of indivisible atom.
For people like us let’s unfold the immense research work done and tell why this week of July 2012 is going to be the exciting one in physics history from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the European Organization for nuclear research is 27 km long underground experiment located near Geneva. It smashes subatomic particles together at vast speeds in an effort to learn more about the fundamental building blocks that makes everything around us .The historical scientific experiment is around the HIGGs BOSON particle or the “Gods particle” which is said to be the last undiscovered particle in the standard model of particle physics. This particle may solve the mystery about the formation of the Universe. Higgs Boson gives those particles their mass. Without which these particles would cross the cosmos at very high speed and thus unable to bind together to form atoms that make up everything. Here everything means right from planet to people.
Now what is the use of finding it? Why objects in Universe have mass and why planets, human and galaxies exist? This Higgs particle or Gods particle was proposed in 1960s by physicist Peter Higgs. The use of finding it was to explain why some particles, quarks (building blocks of protons) and electrons have mass while others such as light carrying photons particles do not. The invisible field in the Universe is like a magnetic field and every particle including us, feel it, but to varying degrees. If a particle moves through this field without interaction, there will be no drag and that particle will have nearly no mass and if a particle significantly interacts with Higgs field it will have higher mass. If Higgs didn’t existed it would all be like photon, everything moving at the speed of light. We couldn’t have structures like we are seeing today.
I am really hopeful that besides the discovery of the Higgs, which is still awaited, we will surely find answer to many fundamental questions in physics. This interesting particle with unexpected behavior would unfold the exciting physics which is yet to be discovered. We wish all the Genius hands behind it; ALL THE BEST. After this may be our great Scientists will find things that will go beyond this Standard model. This is what, new physics is all about. It’s never ending.
ALL TRUTHS ARE EASY TO UNDERSTAND ONCE THEY ARE DISCOVERED; THE POINT IS TO DISCOVER THEM.
