Reality Shifting Real or Fantasy?
The once fantasy / science fiction concept of parallel or alternate realities has recently graduated from our imagination to the realm of respectable science with the advent of M-Theory. If this theory holds true, the question comes to mind; is it possible to shift or travel between parallel realities?
According to the math, M-Theory or Membrane Theory suggests the existence of not just one, not just a few, but an infinite number of alternate realities coexisting simultaneously. Visualize the cosmos as a bubble in the midst of an infinite sea of cosmic bubbles, floating within what we might call an extra-cosmic eleven dimensional domain.

What I call the Parallel Wire Analogy might give us some understanding of these parallel or alternate realities. If in deed they are truly infinite in their scope, then this analogy just begins to help us grasp the enormity of the super reality we call the Multiverse. Now remember this is an analogy, it does not perfectly or exactly describe what parallel realities are like, rather it gives us an idea of some attributes of the Multiverse.
Parallel Wire Analogy
Imagine a thin wire stretched tight extending off into the distance with a tiny droplet of water statically clinging to it. The wire is slightly declined, so this water droplet slowly moves along the wire only downward in that declined direction. Now, further imagine that this wire is surrounded by multiple wires all running perfectly parallel to it, never touching, never intersecting. They stretch off infinitely all around our first wire, some of them very close with only a hairs breath between them, the rest progressively further and further away, but all of them always running perfectly parallel to that original wire we started with. An indeterminate number of these wires, possibly also infinite, have their own tiny droplets of water running along their taut length, simultaneous with that original droplet of water. As they each run along their respective wires, those on adjacent wires come so close but do not quite touch. But what if along their journeys one of these droplets starts to build up a growing static charge, and then encounters a momentary spike? This static spike could alter the droplet’s surface tension just enough to cause it to touch an adjacent droplet on one of the next wires over, in turn causing the two droplets to briefly merge into one another, and essentially trade places. Now let us think of these wires as analogous to the many parallel reality time lines, and the droplet of water clinging to our specific wire as representative of us living out our lives as we move along forward through the time line of our realty. Is it possible that there might actually be a natural phenomenon equivalent to that static spike that might bring about this sort of exchange between adjacent parallel realities? Furthermore, if such a reality shifting process occurs in nature, could a person learn to control it, to actually expand upon the impact of it? Might it be possible to perhaps turn the process into a lateral chain reaction or domino effect as one travels much further from one’s original reality to the next and then the next and so forth? Could a technology be developed to extend the range of lateral movement between realities? Ultimately, just how far could this be taken?
