New Theory: Time is Slowing Down

Is time slowing down?

Science magazines for several years now have been talking about “dark matter”, and the mysteries behind the discoveries of it. Professor Jose Senovilla has a new theory. More than a decade ago scientists measured light from exploding stars, and assumed that the universe was expanding and accelerating. Physicist speculated that ” dark energy “was the anti gravitational force that drove the galaxies.

Professor Senovilla believes that the theory of “dark energy”is incorrect. He thinks that clocks are just moving slower. Therefore, it is assumed that the universe is expanding. when in reality, it is just slowing down. He presumes that the passage of time appears slower.

Scientists from the Universities of Bilbao, in the Basque Country, and Salamanca in Spain hypothesize, that the passage of time is slowing, and distant galaxies just appear to be accelerating because that the telescopes in deep space are in essence looking back in time, when time was moving faster.

In the Bible in Revelation, there is a verse where it states “Time will be no more”.

Scientist now with this new idea of a slowing universe believe time is winding down like a battery running low.

    Oh no, that’s same.

Expanding looks like moving in slowing down, isn’t it?

Interesting. I’ve watched a video about a theory that the earth is expanding. perhaps it’s related.

This is a nice theory in all. Now I’d like to see them find any evidence to actually make it a theory. As far as I know, you have to have some kind of evidence to call something a theory. So this looks like a hypothesis to me.

String theory is also nothing more than a hypothesis, so why not explore this idea any less than others? Intriguing concept for sure, and there are many such interesting ideas coming about lately. Think what is shows is that we really have no idea what the heck is going on in the Universe. We only have a rudimentary understanding.

Interesting. Albert Einstein basically came closer to explaining time than anyone else. The observation of time is relative to the observer.

I read this also, that gravity is ‘less-ening’, -it is growing weaker. The attraction between atoms is becoming weaker… Basically, Newton’s apocryphalic apple falls to earth slower than it used to… Hmm…

My dad once mentioned something like this. Whether or not it’s true is up to much debate, I’m sure. We really don’t even know what ‘dark matter’ and ‘dark energy’ are. We just gave them those names, because we at least know they exist. Properties and effects on our spatial or time dimensions are unknown…very interesting.

If the universe is expanding, so as the earth, then the pull of the gravity lessens because the surface of the earth is moving farther from the core. The more you move farther from the core the less the gravity… well, your comments are somewhat related. cool article.

Time would slow down if it is related to expansion of space. That is possible as time does slow down where expansion of space is slow as around large masses. Slowing of time may be due to slower expansion of space and not due to gravity.
