Doctor Who Takes Manhattan

Doctor Who gains momentum as global appeal increases and happily invades American television.

Dr. Who recently graced the cover of America’s Entertainment Weekly featuring “Inside the Cult of Doctor Who” on how this long-lasting British sci-fi series has become a worldwide obsession. Doctor Who made the magazine’s list of the 25 greatest cult TV series over the last 25 years.  But Doctor Who is even older than that. Since 1963 the British time-traveling sci-fi TV show has starred the most beloved and famous Time Lord known as the Doctor, together with an assortment of traveling companions, they ride in rather curious blue box called the TARDIS battling aliens, monsters, visiting distant worlds, and traveling through time. Since the Doctor is an alien who can regenerate his body fans have seen so far eleven actors portray this now iconic character. Americans most remember the very popular 1970’s Doctor played by Tom Baker (4th Doctor) and now fans have chosen David Tennant (10th Doctor) and current Doctor Matt Smith (11th Doctor) as their all-time favorite Doctors.
