Is It Ethical for People to Rely on Electronics?
There is now a time where electronical felines can help elderly people. However, is there a cost if the equipment were to malfunction?
For hundred of years, society has been slowly enhancing technology to fit our needs in life. Microwaves, refrigerators, television sets, even our vehicles are a source of pride and joy. Businesses and practices are very successful with their accomplishments in society. Good for those people because they’ve done many things for us to make life easier. However, would there ever come a time where robots malfunction and can put us in danger?
Everyone can relate to this subject because they have in fact seen at least one movie with a robot taking role. A. I. , Bicentennial Man, even Star Wars has these creations in them. Can we justify the right to put animation in our homes without certain safety hazards? What if Hollywood is correct on the principles they send out to us through their movies. In I Robot the robots are so prodigiously made that their internal memory chips were being controlled by an internal mother board and they lost control. If we create these devices so professionally could they in fact lose the will they were once programmed for and learn to take part in free will that was so freely given to us people?
An article I read over, Robot Cats Perfect for Elderly, spiked this article. It’s a good article to read pertaining to this subject and was written splendidly. This article is about robot cats over in Britain and states, ” The report recommends that autonomous devices could provide a variety of different services to older people, ranging from basic companionship to medical monitoring. Devices with the appropriate sensors could act as fire detectors, or flash lights when door bells ring.” – Bill Christenson trashing this article or contradicting it to my standards. I am in fact, presenting fantasy ideas that could be practical and impractical. Could be realistic or just a theory of an overactive mind. This could be a very controversial subject and should just be pocketed away. However, it’s up to the reader to decide that. Not the writer for trying to present ideas none the less.
