Is Evolution Real?

Evidence for and against evolution.

Some scientists believe that animals on earth have evolved over time. This evolution theory says that survival of the fittest is what has made animals evolve. Evidence can be gained to prove and disprove this theory. Three areas that this evidence can be gathered are from anatomy, molecular biology, and paleontology.

In anatomy there are a few facts that support the theory of evolution. One of these facts is that different species have similar features based on their surroundings. An example of this would be that the whale’s ancestors used to live on land. This is because as the habitat changed for a whale, the bone structure also changed. Anatomists can see that the bone structure changed from a land animal to one that lives in the water. Also this is seen in animals that have arms, fore limbs, flippers, and wings. All of these share the same bones. Another fact would be that human and primate records compare to each other. This is another clue that humans have evolved from primates.

There is also information that supports evolution from molecular biology. Humans today share the same DNA as Neanderthals. This is a major clue that humans have evolved over time. Another fact is that all life forms have a similar chemical make up as the early species. An example of this would be that the marine worm and the segmented worm shared the same HOX gene.

Paleontologists have been able to find that fossils that are deeper in rocks show progress over time in the same species. This means as the newer rock layers come the same species have changed. Paleontology has also been able to find that sharks have been around twice as long as the dinosaurs had. This means that there was life before the dinosaurs and that they are still alive today.

A piece of evidence can also go either way. One fact is that in a layer of rock there is no sign of life form but when you go one layer up there is an explosion of life. This can be said to be proof of evolution or against evolution. To say it is for evolution there could have been only bacteria living during this time. Bacteria do not fossilize. To say that this is against evolution this evidence says that there was no life before this time and life just started here.

How we became who we are today is one of the greatest mysteries of life. To try and solve the theory of evolution all you can do is gather evidence.

    Good Article – well written
There seems to be a gathering scientific consensus that evolutionary theory as described by Darwin was flawed.
EG The evolution of the cerebral cortex in the modern human brain seems to have been a sudden and quick evolutionary step that cannot be fully explained.
    Very interesting stuff though.

Humans and Neanderthals don’t share DNA. They’re completely different.

    “Evidence for and against evolution.”
So where is the evidence against?
And as for molecular biology, this was unknown to Darwin.I refer you to,”Darwin’s black box” by Michael Behe. There is no scientific evidence in this article to support anything either way, just shallow presumption.

If evolution was true there would be a mountain of irrefutable evidence, so strong that practically everyone would believe it. It doesn\’t exist. Just scattered and inconclusive \”evidence\” that can often mean whatever you want it to. The smallest bit of \”evidence\” makes world news, it is so rare.

The fact is, there is no consistent proof of a slow, gradual evolution from one thing to the next as evolutionist claim. If there is, then show it. There are gaps and inconsistencies all through it. Evolution is claimed to be fact, when it doesn\’t pass any criteria that establishes scientific fact.

Another main point against the credibility of evolutionists is the continual fabrication of evidence. Every \”great scientific find\” that is heralded to be proof of the missing link between ape and man has found to be either false or a hoax. If not, then where are the examples? Evolutionists are so desperate for proof of their weak theory that they resort, time and again, to forgery — not facts.

The Piltdown Man and the Nebraska Man are just two good examples of \”scientific\” and \”factual\” proof that turned out to be nothing but elaborate hoaxes. And those were two of the best examples claimed to be \”proof.\”

    1. \”The significance of the specimen (Piltdown Man) remained the subject of controversy until it was exposed in 1953 as a forgery, consisting of the lower jawbone of an orangutan that had been deliberately combined with the skull of a fully developed modern human.\”

    2. \”A five million-year-old piece of bone (Nebraska Man) that was thought to be a collarbone of a humanlike creature is actually part of a dolphin rib…The problem with a lot of anthropologists is that they want so much to find a hominid that any scrap of bone becomes a hominid bone.\” – Dr. Tim White (anthropologist, University of California, Berkeley).

Ok, scientists and evolutionists, we\’re still waiting on the proof of evolution. Without it you only have a theory and speculation. You\’ve had 150 years to find irrefutable fossilized records proving evolution and you haven\’t. We\’re still waiting on the evidence and all we get are dishonest hoaxes and honest incompetence.

Show some intergirty and be honest. Science just doesn\’t have the facts to rightfully claim evolution to be true. If it does, then show it — strong, irrefutable evidence. The fact is, it doesn\’t exist.

i guess you’ v never been to a museum?
but what was i thinking of course your right GOD DID IT!
now i can go back to my simple life and not think about who we are and what we are doing here, and i wont bother looking for evidence since the church has it all figured out, even the churches that contradict the other churches know the answer…

why does the toilet flush = GOD DID IT!
its the universal answer to everything and yet its still explains nothing thanks butt wipe……

I don’t get it, what does saying “god did it” have at all to do with rather or not something should be researched or studied. it’s not like you’re just hanging it up or throwing in the towel. i don’t know what’s the correlation with these people. I have a hard time with evolution because i have a green plant and a variegated one; I have a cat with dark extremities and one that’s light and peachy. show me a case where light begets dark and variegated or albino begets solid green. look at the lack of pigment in cave fauna. am i just supposed to imagine hard enough that if little cracks in the cave allowing little bits of lite over time..

If god created everything, where did god come from? and why did he create humans and apes so similar?
And on the third day, god created man and an animal called an ape that looks vaguely like man because god ran out of ideas.

I can I just say WOOW! There are a lot of confused people out there!
So let me see if I can make this discussion a little clearer…

To many people who haven’t studied evolution, the “theory of evolution” simply says that evolution has happened. That’s why creationists say “It’s just a theory” and why people who accept evolution but don’t really understand it say “The theory of evolution has been proven!” That’s not what the theory of evolution says at all. To sort this mess out, we need to take a look at the scientific definitions of “fact” and “theory”.

In science, a fact is simply a data point; something that has been observed and catalogued. For example, you could say that gravity is a fact because when you let something go, you can observe it falling to the ground. If the object is acting under the influence of gravity alone, it falls to the ground every single time. It NEVER falls up. This is what makes gravity a fact; it is observable and universally true.

So is evolution! We have observed evolution, both in the laboratory and in nature. Now some people who don’t want evolution to be true will tell you that we haven’t ever observed evolution, or that we’ve only seen microevolution (not macroevolution). These people are wrong. There’s really no other way to say it. They want you to think that microevolution and macroevolution are somehow two different things, and that one can happen while the other can’t. They don’t want you to know that micro- and macroevolution are just two different ways of looking at the SAME THING. Beware creationist lies.

A scientific theory is quite different from a fact. A theory doesn’t say THAT something happens (so the creationists are wrong here too), but attempts to explain HOW something happens. For example, the theory of gravity doesn’t say THAT gravity happens (we can see that much without any theory), but attempts to explain HOW gravity happens. Why do all massive objects exert a gravitational pull on each other? That’s what the theory of gravity seeks to answer.

The theory of evolution does not say THAT evolution happens – that much is accepted as fact by almost all scientists – but attempts to explain HOW evolution happens. That’s what creationists don’t get. They’re trying to discredit the theory of evolution, but even if they somehow manage to do that, it doesn’t change the fact that evolution is a scientific reality.

Can a theory ever be proven? No. Unfortunately, many people think that the reality of evolution means the theory has been proven. That’s not the case. The explanation about HOW evolution occurs can never be proven, just as NO SCIENTIFIC THEORY CAN BE PROVEN! You can accumulate evidence to support a particular theory, but there must always be the possibility of falsification. The theory of evolution could be falsified if we found some example of evolution that is not occurring in the way that we think it does. Again, even if the THEORY were falsified, that doesn’t mean that evolution isn’t happening. It just means we’re back to the drawing board to figure out HOW.

So when you ask “Is evolution real?” the answer is yes. It’s been observed and catalogued. It is a fact.

When people say “It’s just a theory”, they are showing ignorance regarding what the word “theory” means to a scientist.

And when people say “The theory has been proven”, they’re ALSO showing ignorance regarding what the word “theory” means to a scientist.

Finally, for the creationist still shouting ‘WHERE’S THE EVIDENCE?’ I highly recommend you read a book for once. Maybe start with Richard Dawkins new book, The Greatest Show On Earth. Richard Dawkins is a ethologist and evolutionary biologist and former Professor for Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. In this book he attempts to compile all the evidence for evolution in one book.

plus scientists wanna beleive in evolution because they know they have done some bad things in their life and they think God can\’t forgive them for.Evolution is not real because of the way life is just look go outside go to the ocean and just look at the ocean the sky and look at life it is sooo complicated and special look at a newborn baby just look and then tell me that evolution is real something so beutiful can\’t be on accident or that it just happened it had to be from God. if you wanna beleive in aliens whatever just know that something had to create them also
