Close Encounters of the God Kind: Is There Evidence in the Bible for Encounters with Alien Beings and is God an Alien? Part Five
With all the claims of extra-biblical evidence of alien activity, what the Bible itself actually has to say about the subject is quite interesting and possibly very controversial. In biblical times what was referred to as God, angels, and demons, may be construed today as being alien or foreign in nature. What the biblical writers called God, angels, and demons may be what some people today would call aliens. If these beings are what we call aliens, which are good and which are evil and how do we tell the difference?

In the beginning of creation, God made heaven and earth. [2] Now the earth had no form, and was empty and the atmosphere was dark. So the Spirit of God flew across the top of the waters, lingering over it… (Genesis 1:1-2)
With all the claims of extra-biblical evidence of alien activity, what the Bible itself actually has to say about the subject is quite interesting and possibly very controversial. In biblical times what was referred to as God, angels, and demons, may be construed today as being alien or foreign in nature. What the biblical writers called God, angels, and demons may be what some people today call aliens. If these beings are what we call aliens, which are good and which are evil and how do we tell the difference? Is there valid evidence in the Bible for encounters with alien beings and possibly even spacecrafts? This may or may not be so. Is God what we might today call a Great Mastermind Alien, with superior intelligence and technology? Possibly. These are questions that some might ask after reading certain passages from Ezekiel, the Psalms, and others in the Bible, which may seem to describe an encounter with an alien or aliens. Ezekiel describes the glory of God in such detail that one can’t help but recognize the resemblance to what people today might believe to be UFO and alien activity.
If Ezekiel, the psalmist, and others had in fact witnessed an alien presence, and called it God, then it would be totally appropriate to warn others to fear God and do what God requests of them. How would we feel if we had encountered an alien being in the past before we had ever heard of such a possibility? How would we have described the event? We would have used words that were as close to what we saw as possible, but within our current vocabulary. If God were the only way for them to describe such a Being, then wouldn’t it make sense that they probably would have described their close encounter with an Alien Being, as an encounter with the Almighty God?
But what about other encounters that may not be of God? In Ephesians 2:2 the Bible calls Satan the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who is now working in the disobedient ones. We know from scripture that Satan pretty much has free reign with his destructive powers, but not completely without limitations. The story of Job is a good example of the power Satan wields over us, and the limitations God puts on the use of that power. Could there be alien spacecrafts that are not of God, but that Satan actually controls? If so, does God allow the use of their power and technology, but within the limitations set by the Sovereignty of God? Does Satan and his followers now have reign over the airspace around the earth? And is there a war going on in Heaven due to Satan’s covetousness for God’s power and sovereignty? The Scripture in Revelation 12 tells us that there once was a war in heaven and that Satan and a third of the angels were cast to the earth.
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they didn’t prevailed and they lost their place in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, who is called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. (Rev. 12:7-9)
Could events such as this have really occurred in the ancient past? The Bible tells us that the war began in Genesis, is still active today, and will end with the Revelation of the Christ. The New Testament speaks much of demonic possession, with Jesus clearly having power and authority over these demonic spirits, and they clearly knowing it, which assures us of Christ’s sovereignty. But could these evil spirits be the fallen angels, who have somehow gained control of people’s minds? Might possession by these evil spirits be what some today might call alien possession? Could they be attempting to manifest themselves by taking over people’s minds and possibly even attempting to physically reproduce with human beings? And if these are the fallen angels, is it possible that they have physical bodies? In Genesis 6:1-4, the Nephilim (giants), were recorded as the sons of God who mated with the daughters of humans, producing children that became a lineage of giants. Were these God’s angels that were allowed for a time to reproduce with humanity or were these possibly the fallen angels that were cast to earth with Satan and somehow mated with humanity? At least one modern translation, the Young’s literal translation, equates them with the fallen ones. I have agreed with this assessment and have included it in my own paraphrase here:
And it came to pass, when human beings began to multiply on the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of human beings were fair; and they took wives for themselves, of all which they chose. And God said, My spirit will not struggle with humanity forever, for they are flesh as well as spirit: so I will limit their days to a hundred and twenty years, because of their sinfulness. The sons of God, who were the fallen ones, mated with the daughters of human beings, who bore children to them, and were the giants that lived in the earth in those days; and after that, their race became the giants of long ago, men of fame. (Genesis 6:1-4)
The Bible tells us that God’s angels do not marry, nor are given in marriage, and by implication, implies that they are neither male nor female, and most people would probably assume they do not reproduce. (Matt. 22:30, Mark 12:25, Gal. 3:28) But various reports of encounters with aliens describe events that might be deemed as aliens attempting to reproduce themselves with humans. Since Scripture tells us that most, if not all of the giants were wiped out in Biblical times, could the fallen angels be attempting to reproduce themselves once again, or might they simply be continuing a practice that they have already mastered, building themselves an army of demons to fight God with? With the modern day cloning techniques that humans have discovered today, could not these demonic aliens be attempting similar exploits to manifest themselves physically? Could Satan actually be trying to find a way to make himself a physical body, to enter the world as the Anti-Christ and deceive the whole world? The Revelation tells us about the beast and it’s image, so might the image possibly be the clone of the original beast, which the Word of God tells us is numbered 666 and is the number of a man.
Spiritual connections to the UFO phenomenon are not completely out of the question. There is simply too much evidence today to dismiss the possibility of their existence, nor can we dismiss biblical evidence of historical alien activities and contacts. And what do we make of such passages like John 10:16 when Jesus stated that there were other sheep, which are not in this fold? Are there other planets out there with inhabitants that God watches over as well? Why should we be so arrogant as to believe that in this vast universe, that we are the only ones out there? What we do know and believe about God and Christ is that God is an Eternal Spirit, and not merely human, that Jesus Christ is the physical manifestation of God and has a glorified physical body, that God through the Holy Spirit, created us and this world, and that God performs miraculous happenings in natural forces. Could this not all be consistent with an Alien Being who sometimes intervenes in the affairs of mankind in order to bring us to a place in time, where a more full revelation of God would be possible? And why should some humans find it so hard to believe in a virgin birth, and Jesus rising from the dead, when our own technology today allows us to do procedures such as artificial insemination and artificial resuscitation, sometimes even several hours after people die? If God is an Alien Being of sorts, then might not the capabilities and the technology in the mind of God be more intellectually advanced than our own, while sufficient to do such miracles, and more?
I may not know just what or who God is, or is not, but I believe everything I always believed about God and then some. I know that God loves and cares for me and has intervened in my own life on several occasions. I know that the Word of God describes mankind’s encounters with God, and God’s instructions to mankind. I believe that God sent a direct descendant, born of the virgin Mary, into this world to redeem mankind. I believe that Jesus, the Christ, that very descendant, lived a genuine physical life, died a real physical death, and was resurrected in a glorified physical body. I believe that as Jesus was resuscitated and given new life, so will those who repent of their sins and believe be given eternal life as well. I believe that God holds us responsible for our actions on earth and that the unrepentant will be punished accordingly. I even know that I may be ridiculed and persecuted for writing about this possibility, just as the early Christians were persecuted for believing the founding principles of the Christian Faith. But I pray that as Moses encountered the presence of God on the mountaintop and was allowed to see the back of God, while protected by the shelter of the rocks, that someday I will be so near the presence of God that I will tremble and fall to my knees at the sight. And if it turns out that God is an Alien of sort, or not an Alien at all, I pray that I will have an unconditional love for God, just as God has for me, and that I will not love my Sovereign any less, because God didn’t turn out to be just what I expected God to be.

Hi Mama, I personally do not believe that God is an alien because it says in Genesis that God created Man in His image. So that would make us aliens too:) But I do believe that He is the supreme ruler of this universe and his power and majesty are so great that we cannot comprehend them and, in that sense He is ‘alien’ to us.
