Close Encounters of the God Kind 2: Is There Evidence in the Bible for Encounters with Alien Beings and is God an Alien?

Then I heard God cry out with a loud voice, saying, Let those who have charge over the city come to me; And everyone came armed with their weapon of destruction. And, I saw, six soldiers come from the higher north-gate, all of them with a weapon in their hand to destroy with; and one of them was clothed in linen, having a writing instrument with ink hanging on his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brass altar. And the glory of the God of Israel had flew off the heavenly being, where it had been, to the threshold of the Temple.

In the beginning of creation, God made heaven and earth. [2] Now the earth had no form, and was empty and the atmosphere was dark. So the Spirit of God flew across the top of the waters, lingering over it… (Genesis 1:1-2)

The following excerpt from Ezekiel Chapter three, tells of Ezekiel’s commission into the employment of being the next great prophet in Biblical history, and leads into the next close encounter of the God kind.

[16] And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came to me, saying, [17] Son of humanity, I’ve made you a watchman for the house of Israel: therefore hear my word, and warn them of me. [18] When I say to the wicked, Surely, you’ll die; and you don’t give them warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from their sinful ways, in order to save their lives; they will die in their sin; but I will require their blood of you. [19] Yet if you warn the wicked, and they don’t turn from their sinfulness, they will die in their sin; but you have delivered your soul. [20] Also, when the righteous turn away from their righteousness and begin to sin, and I give them difficulty, they’ll die in their sin because you haven’t given them warning, and their righteousness which they’ve done won’t be remembered; but their blood I’ll require of you. [21] Nevertheless if you warn the righteous not to sin, and they don’t sin, they’ll live, because they have been warned; and you have delivered your own soul.

[22] And the hand of Yahweh was on me; and God said to me, Rise up, and go into the plain, where I will talk with you. [23] Then I arose, and went into the plain: and the glory of Yahweh stood there, just as I had seen it by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.…

These next passages from Ezekiel 8:1-11:24 describe a third encounter with this Alien God, complete with angelic alien beings following orders to mark those who mourned over the sinfulness of the nation and obeyed God’s commands and to annihilate all the others. It gives a bit more detail concerning the judgment of God on rebellious people, and serves to warn us today that God’s judgment will come again, possibly in a way we least expect it, possibly even in the form of what some would deem to be alien activity.

[8:1] And it came to pass in the sixth year of the captivity, on September 17th, as I sat in my house, with the elders of Judah before me, that the hand of the Sovereign God fell on me. [2] Then I watched, and a form appeared, which shown like fire from the waist down; and had a bright golden glow from the waist up. [3] And the form of a hand reached out, taking me by a lock of my hair; and lifted me up between the earth and heaven, and brought me in a vision of God to Jerusalem, to the north gate of the center courtyard; where an idol, which provoked God to jealousy was at. [4] And the glory of the God of Israel was there, just like the vision that I saw in the plain.

[5] Then God said to me, Son of humanity, lift up your eyes toward the north, now. So I looked toward the north, and saw the idol at the gate of the altar in the entryway. [6] He said to me also, Son of humanity, do you see the great atrocities that the house of Israel does here, that I should have to leave my sanctuary? Turn around, and you will see even greater atrocities…

[17] Then God said to me, Have you seen this, Oh son of humanity? Does it mean nothing to the house of Judah that they do these atrocities? They have brought violence to the people, provoking my anger: and even inhaled powerful incense. [18] So I will deal with them in fury: my eye not sparing, and I will have no pity on them; and even if they cry with a loud voice, I will ignore them.

[9:1] Then I heard God cry out with a loud voice, saying, Let those who have charge over the city come to me; And everyone came armed with their weapon of destruction. [2] And, I saw, six soldiers come from the higher north-gate, all of them with a weapon in their hand to destroy with; and one of them was clothed in linen, having a writing instrument with ink hanging on his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brass altar. [3-4] And the glory of the God of Israel had flew off the heavenly being, where it had been, to the threshold of the Temple. And God called to the one clothed with linen, which had the writer’s instrument, saying, Go throughout the city, through all of Jerusalem, and mark the foreheads of those who mourn for all the atrocities that are done in it.

[5] And to the others, I heard God say, Follow throughout the city, and destroy: don’t let your eye spare, and have no mercy: [6] Kill old and young, young girls, little children, and the women: but don’t come near anyone who is marked; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began with the elders, which were in the Temple. [7] And God said to them, Defile the house, and fill the courts with the dead: now go!  And they went through the city killing.

[8] And it came to pass, while they were gone, and I was left, that I fell on my face, crying out, Oh Sovereign God! Will you destroy everyone in Israel in your fury upon Jerusalem? [9] Then God said to me, The sin of the house of Israel and Judah is very great, and they are full of violence, and the city is full of perverseness: for they say, God has abandoned the earth, and doesn’t see. [10] And as for me also, my eye won’t spare, neither will I have mercy, but I will punish them for their sins. [11] And I saw, the one clothed with linen, which had the writing instrument, report back, saying, I have done as you have ordered me.

The impending judgment of the Leader of this crew, though somewhat harsh, seems to be justified by the rebelliousness of these people, who were apparently inhaling hallucinogens of some sort and had allowed considerable violence to take place in their society.  It undoubtedly wouldn’t hurt this generation to take note of this, and make some much needed adjustments in our own society’s injustices.

[10:1] Then I looked, and I saw in the globe what appeared to be a sapphire throne, which was above the head of the heavenly beings, that were called Cherubim. [2] And God spoke to the one clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, under the Cherubim, and fill your hand with the burning coals between them, and scatter them over the city; which was done as I watched. [3] Now the heavenly beings stood on the right side of the Temple, when God went in; and the cloud of God’s glory filled the inner court. [4] Then the glory of God went up from off the cherub, and hovered over the threshold of the Temple; which was filled with the cloud, and the court was brightened with the Lord’s glory. [5] And the sound of the heavenly beings’ wings was heard all the way to the outer court, roaring as when the voice of the Almighty God speaks. [6] And it came to pass, when God had commanded the one clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the Cherubim; then the assistant went in, standing beside one of the wheels. [7] And one cherub stretched forth its hand from between them to the fire that was in the middle of them, taking some of it, and putting it into the hands of the one that was clothed in linen, who took it, and then went out.

[8] And there appeared in the heavenly beings a form something like a human’s hand under their wings. [9] And when I looked, I saw the four wheels by the heavenly beings, one wheel by each cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was Topaz in color. [10] And as for their appearances, each of the four had one form; a wheel, with another wheel crosswise within it. [11] When they moved, they went in any of the four directions that they faced, without turning as they went, and where ever the head looked, they followed it, without turning as they went. [12] And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eye-like lights all around them, even the wheels that they had. [13] As for the wheels, I heard them called wheel. [14] And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub (earlier verses have face of an ox), and the second face was the face of a human, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. [15] And the heavenly beings were lifted up. This is the heavenly being that I saw by the river of Chebar. [16] And when the heavenly beings moved, the wheels went with them: and when the heavenly beings lifted up their wings to fly from the earth, the same wheels stayed beside them. [17] When the one stood still, the other stood still; and when the one was lifted up, the other lifted up also: for the power of the heavenly being was in the wheels. [18] Then the glory of the Lord departed from off the threshold of the Temple, and mounted back over the heavenly beings. [19] And the heavenly beings lifted up their wings, and flew up from the earth in my sight: and when they went out, the wheels were also beside them, and  they all stood at the door of the east gate of God’s Temple; and the glory of the God of Israel was over above them. [20] This is the heavenly being that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were the Cherubim, the heavenly beings. [21] Each one had four faces apiece, and they all had two pairs of wings; and something like the form of human hands was under their wings. [22] And the forms of their faces were the same as those I had seen by the river of Chebar, and each of them went straight forward.

[11:1] The spirit lifted me up also, and brought me to the east gate of God’s Temple… [22] Then the heavenly beings lifted up their wings, and the wheels beside them; and the glory of the God of Israel had moved over above them again. [23] And the glory of the Lord went up from the city, and hovered over the mountain which is on the east side of the city.

[24] Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in a vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

This passage seems to describe a spacecraft with a smaller unit that disconnects and moves back and forth from off of the main ship.  Where ever the ship goes a cloud follows it, which could easily be interpreted as an atmosphere control or cloaking device of some sort.  The roaring sound seemed to come when the wheels ignited empowering the craft to move.  The ship seems to be covered with many lights from top to bottom.  This Biblical description of the Glory of God is very close to some modern day descriptions of UFOs.  A possible explanation for this Biblical event could be what we might call today as a close encounter of the God Kind…
