Autotrophic Humans
The possible solution to deal with food problems in the future.
Can you believe if some one says that you can make food of your own and you won’t need plants or animals anymore for synthesis of food?
If no, then think again because the idea which now I’m going to disclose will deal with this aspect.
But I feel that we can synthesize our own food if we just add a plastid gene in our DNA. This will help us to generate our own food by the process of photosynthesis as plants used to have.
So, people in future will stand in streets, balcony and roofs to get sunlight and prepare their own food. This will eliminate the food problems of the world and we all will no more have any problems in my life.
So, people will be green in future rather than brown, black or white. Hence this will also eradicate the racial abuse problems because everyone would be green in color.
But, the problem would be that the whole food market will crash and will make millions jobless. But, then I think that at least they all don’t have to worry about food as they can synthesize their own food.

1) Three Most Controversial Topics: There are three articles which have seen more controversy than expected. Find it all by yourself along with the reason.
2) Smoking is good for health, the title itself contradicts the notion which is being created in the minds of the people. So, this topic will attract controversy. However, you must read this article carefully to understand the paradox which smoking creates.
3) Why do Men Rape? , although I haven’t expected any controversy related to this topic but then it has been one of the most controversial topic in the most odd ways. Despite, the fact it tries to make a scientific and logical explanation of this question, this topic has viewed in a different sense.

5) Sleep to Get Exhausted: A very good reason for not to sleep.
6) Future Decoded: One of my most controversial topics. Read it and decide yourself.
7) Man in Danger: A topic which I expected least to be controversial but is still facing a controversy. A topic which says that males are weakening and women are becoming strong.

i want to make my own food so show me how

hey darius,
if u wanna make ur own food then u have to add the required set of plastid genes in your body. which is impossible atleast for now.
since biotechnology is still not successful in transfering gene in human body with 100% efficiency and above that i don’t think the complete machinery of photosynthesis in plants right from it’s gene till it’s expression is completely understood.
so, this concept can become future once the above two problems are solved.

but till now, it’s a weird, crazy or u may call it an absurd thought.
since, i wrote this article to depict my crazy dreams about future of biotech.

I am sorry, but this is the single most idiotic idea I have ever.
This assumes it is possible.
You propose that every skin cell in the body has chloroplasts. Our body will have absolutely no idea what to do with these organelles. We do not naturally produce plant hormones in our bodies. We will have no clue what to do with it. It is like a male pregnancy, give the man a uterus, ovaries, a womb and the whole deal, he cannot get pregnant since his body does not know what to do with it, such as make a placenta, clot the placenta when giving birth, ect.
And some common sense why this won’t work. We are humans, plants are so far off from us it is ridiculous. We cannot function anything like plants without having tons off hormone transfers which would most likely kill us. Sorry, this is not going to happen for millenniums, if at all.
It would be cool to be autotrophic though.

*As a note I’m only in grade 10 so do not criticize my knowledge of the issue
Jack i think he his proposing that a gene would be placed in the nucleus of every skin cell. The nucleus would then be able to send messenger chemicals to the rough endoplasmic reticulum, where the ribosomes studded on the RER (as I call it to save typing) would create the necessary proteins needed to create the chloroplasts and
plant chemicals.

Not a new idea. There’s a very famous science fiction story about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Green_Leopard_Plague
Trouble is if you actually do the math, you’ll find our surface area is simply far too small assuming efficiencies vaguely like green plants (and they’re tuned by over two billion of years of evolution…). We’d need huge solar collector “leaves” or “wings” and have to spend several hours a day immobile with them spread out sunning ourselves. And LOTS of clean water. There’d be huge wars over sunning space and fresh water supply.

Despite the creativity of this idea, you didn’t give it any ground in science at all except adding a gene into a DNA. Easy to say, but genetic manipulation is far from being advanced enough for something like this. It’s easy to say, yeah let’s just add chloroplasts to our skin. The process of photosynthesis requires a system of parts, a system of which we lack all the parts.
And also, this wouldn’t eliminate the problem of race. If history teaches us anything, it teaches us that humans will always find to hate each other. No matter how small our differences are.
Oh and who cares if people lose their jobs? Once we accomplish something of this magnitude food will be a waste of our time and resources. All food production jobs should cease to exist anyway.
