The Science of Mathematics; Ancient Contributors

We have been educated to appreciate the fact that, early civilization started in Egypt ; even in the Babylonian kingdom before king Nebuchadnezzar ever ruled that great kingdom of old. The Persians and the Medes were great just the same, in evolving most complicated, and complex mathematical equations; even up till 1919 when the Babylonians are Facing critical time. Ahentop and Pharaoh were jointly moving the world around us.

We  have been  educated  to appreciate  the fact  that, early  civilization started in Egypt ; even  in the Babylonian kingdom  before  king  Nebuchadnezzar ever ruled  that great kingdom  of old. The Persians and  the Medes  were great  just the same , in  evolving  most complicated, and complex mathematical equations; even  up till 1919 when  the Babylonians are  Facing  critical  time. Ahentop and  Pharaoh  were jointly  moving the world around  us; because; they felt; African  civilization  was incomplete  without  putting  into  material and practical  values the science  of mathematics  which ,I  suppose , was  the only  modus Vivendi towards  the advancement  of science  in the continent. It was Egyptians  who started  to revolutionize  Africa while Archimedes , a mathematician  from the eastern  shores of  Sicily  had  lit the   fuse  of scientific  revolution which was to  explode  18  centuries  later  by  evolving  several  mathematical  equation and  through  which , he  also founded  the science of mechanic.

Conversely, Pythagoras was yet, one of the greatest mathematicians; perhaps, the first in history during his generation. It was  he who  evolved  all  the modern  mathematical  symbols, to wit:- multiplication, addition, parallel lines, brackets,  circles, square, triangles, and such  other  symbols , figures,  and theorems. He also evolved the universally accepted theory of mathematical deductions. Plato was another known prodigy in this field. He had founded a school in Athens- a little town in North-East of Greece. Thales had studied under Plato- a little over a century after the death of Socrates. Thales had proved even greater than Plato – in whose school he studied.

Apart from  these eminent  world mathematicians ; other names  which attracted  us more  forcibly  as associated  with steam engine  and electricity were James  Watt’s  who, during  his generation, was  dreamingly  watching  the  boiling kettle. He had invented the steam-engine in the middle of 18th century. Without his advanced  mathematical  theory , in  revolutionizing  the locomotive  or steam  engine, British  automation would  have been  at  a stand- still; and nobody  in the  free world  could have  heard  about , and  influenced by this  somewhat, crazy-hazy and hectic age  of Industrial  Revolution vis-à-vis the age  of mechanization when  automation nearly had  replaced  human skills and dexterity. Michael faraday , on the  other hand , another 17th  century  English  scientist  on electro- magnetic  forces had lived to  see  the  electrification of the  entire  universe. Maxwell had been his close associate. The death of Michael faraday had left a vacuum in our world of science.

The science of  mathematics , had  centered  on these  areas  of thought -namely: arithmetic , known  as such  and was  applied  by the  early  Egyptians , Greeks,  and sometimes  carved  such  symbols  on card-boards, plates,  stones,  etc. as in the case of ten commandment  handed  down  by Moses  from Mount  Sinai,  and  most  of these  appearing  in Roman numerals. I need  not  delve  into  the  historical  phenomenon  of  this purely scientific  subject , its data and  revolutionary  impact  it  has made  on us.  Others include   algebra, geometry,  trigonometry, physics- all  of boiled down to  the same  and one  name  commonly  known as  mathematics.
