A lot of teachers came into my life…but there’s only a few of them that really hit a mark on me. And this is one of them.
Math is one of the subjects that I wasn’t exactly friends with. I’ve got a lot of problems with math and it just likes stacking one problem to another. I spent years suffering from brain hemorrhage just because of MATH. I don’t hate Math, really, it just… make my head hurt when I think about it.
Math, in my opinion, was in no way ‘fun’…that was until I met one of the best teachers in that I have ever known. He was one of the greatest that I have ever encountered. He made math into something adventurous and fun. He was a great teacher who taught me a good deal about math.
It started out as a stiff and normal welcome. When I first saw my math teacher back in my last year of high school, my first impression of him is that he’s strict as can be. He gave us rules, he gave us requirements and he gave us the grading system in math. I thought he was scary.
Then…he surprised us with a test! It was an ambush, an ambush that we could bring home! I was unprepared for that test and I have no idea on how to solve each and every one of those question. I was shocked and confuse. He made me suffer twice as much of brain hemorrhage I received from math on a daily basis.
I thought he would be one of the teachers that would make my high school life like hell for me. But then, I thought wrong. From a scary strict teacher, he turned out to be a free-spirited, passionate and jolly teacher. A jolly teacher who just loves giving his students a hard, hard, HARD time.
Math was never boring with him, although, there were probably some of my classmates who still held a grudge on him from time to time. I liked him; I could see how much he loves his job and how much he loves spending the time with us. So although I complain from time to time, I learned to enjoy solving math problems.
The thing that I could never forget about my teacher was how honest he is.
One day while we were watching some program from school, my math teacher was talking to one of my batch mates. I decided to join in the conversation when all of a sudden he said something that made me feel like I was in 7th heaven! I couldn’t remember what the exact wording was but he said something like: “From all of the students I’ve ever had, she’s one of the greatest.”
