Multiplication and Division Rules

The rules of multiplying and dividing.

MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION RULES FOR NEGATIVES

MULTIPLICATION RULES: If you had a problem like this 7(-8) the answer would be in the negatives because if you are multiplying two different integers the answer would be in the negatives. So 7(-8) would be -56. If you had a problem like -7x-8 the answer would be in the positives because if you multiply two same integers the answer would be in the positives. So -7x-8 would be 56.

DIVISION RULES: If you divide positives it would be same division. But if you divide negative numbers and you would divide by the first numbers absolute value and the second numbers absolute value. So (-24) divided by (-3) would be 24 divided by 3 and that would equal 8.  If you had a problem like -24 divided by 4 you would divide by the first numbers absolute value and the second numbers absolute value, but when you get the answer you put a negative sign in front of it. So -24 divided by 4 would equal -6.
