Why America is Facing Extremely Hot Summer in 2012

Midwest US Current Weather

America is facing the kind of high temperatures that has never known in a long time and meteorological readings have revealed that the first quarter of the 2012 has so far been the hottest, with June topping the record in high temperatures. We have also seen the outbreak of fires that have created unbelievable disruptions to  the normal ways of life in the Midwestern. What is going on…why are has America become this hot in 2012?

According to experts, the high temperatures devastating the Western Unites states this summer are being occasioned by a persistent high pressure system which has stagnated around the mountain west and has slowly drifted to the Midwest and Southeastern belts of the United States.

The pressure system sadly, is not getting away from these points because of the slowdown of the North Atlantic Oscillation, a climate pattern that pulls weather eastward across the Unites States of America. This stagnation of the pressure system is blocking off the free movement of winds from the Atlantic and causing jet streams that normally carries air from west to east to trap heat in the current hot zones of America this summer.

Situations are being made worse by the dry soils. This has made the heat more hard-felt because wet soils absorb energy, but dry soils instead release heat to the environment and gives opportunity for fire out breaks of the kind we are seeing in some of the western parts of  American states and storms which have caused millions of Americans to do without power for some days.

Although weather experts predict a lull in the next few weeks, it is feared that many parts of the America will experience an unusually hot summer this year. The highly unusual temperatures are really causing concerns among scientists, with some fearing it could be the beginning of extreme whether conditions likely to affect many parts of the world in 2012.
