Ultimate Challenge: Exploring The Great Abyss (Photo & Video)

James Cameron, producer of the famous movie "Titanic" and "Avatar", recently announced that is preparing to sail for Mariana Trench – more precisely, to its lowest point: Challenger Deep. The deepest place on Earth, the deepest depths of the ocean that hides many mysteries, is the embodiment of mystery, danger and adventure.

Cameron has assembled an outstanding team of experts to liven up his project, and the submersible was built in secret for eight years at a shipyard in Australia. Have just started to come out details of bold adventure.

Thrusters, the number of 12, are mounted above the cabin, not to disturb the seabed sediments. Thus, Cameron hopes to have no visibility problems encountered in 1960 the occupants batiscafs Trieste .

The expedition will be a challenge for director. James Cameron plans to spend 6 hours in the Mariana Trench, and the mission would take a total of about nine hours. Meanwhile, Cameron would be housed in a metal sphere thick-walled steel with a diameter of only one meter, where it will be uncomfortable. Will have to stay close to squat for 9 hours – a very simple job for a man with a height of about 1.90 m

If “personal sphere”, as designers call it, is steel, the other vehicle is built largely from a lightweight, spongy, foam that builders had to design specifically for this mission, after the type available in the market proved resilient enough to enormous pressure.

Tests conducted at a depth of 8 km Deepsea Challenger’s builders have given every reason to be proud of their achievement. Follow the ultimate test of engineering skill: the descent into “the ultimate abyss” of the planet.

James Cameron’s attempt but only one is expected to occur in the near future to the same destination. The second decade of the XXI century decade seems to be exploring the Great Abyss.Other three manned expeditions are preparing for the great adventure, lowering the Challenger Deep, which will bring the submarine to travel almost 11 kilometers closer to the center of the planet.

DOER Marine , a company based in San Francisco, USA, working on developing a vehicle for deep underwater exploration, vehicle and hopes to visit the Great Abyss – Challenger Deep. Project (called Deepsearch) is supported by Eric Schmidt, Google’s president, who offered a substantial donation to fund research and development programs of DOER Marine. The vehicle is still in draft form and will take some years until it is ready for the journey to deep Pacific.

Triton Submarine and Florida is a U.S. company specializing in the design and manufacture private submarines. So far, their record was achieved with a submarine that went down to a depth of 1 km, but now raised the bar, accepting the challenge of Challenger Deep.
Their project is based on a thick-walled glass sphere of 15 cm ( built by a firm specializing in California, Rayotek Scientific), to accommodate three people who will benefit from a view of 360 degrees through the transparent walls of the sphere.
Triton Submarines plans a commercial purpose, intending to provide, at a cost of about . $ 250,000 trips into the abyss for those eager to reach the deepest point of the ocean.

Deep Flight Challenger is ambitious business man Chris Welsh, who bought the boat after the first investor in this vehicle’s design died in a plane crash.
Deep Flight Challenger, Graham Hawkes designed by British engineer, is built by Virgin , economic empire Richard Branson, who, after being conquered space around Earth by the amazing space tourism project of his company Virgin Galactic , aims to conquer the ocean.
vehicle looks like a plane, with wings and tail; prototype was built and is currently in testing phase.

We live, therefore, time exploring the great abyss. For many scientists, research these canyons of the ocean is much more exciting and full of promise than space exploration, if only because they have immediate importance for humanity. Ocean in which life arose is essential for life on Earth today. If expeditions as described above four will be completed successfully, our knowledge of the puzzle-filled Hauri crust will be considerably increased, and ocean exploration will be made some giant steps forward.
