The Earth and an Egg

A comparison between the earth and an egg.

If you have ever had a hard-boiled egg you would know that there are three different parts the shell, the egg white and the yolk. This is similar to the earth because the earth has layers as well. The crust is one layer then there is the mantle below the crust of and then the core in the center. The similarity is that the crust is on the outside of the earth just like the shell of the egg is surrounding the egg.

Then there is the mantle also in the same position as the egg white in a hard-boiled egg it is just below the crust, and is surrounding the core or the yolk in the egg. Finally the center of the egg and the earth is called the core or the yolk.

It is surrounded by everything else that is there. The roles of these two things are different but the physical make up is similar. They are both oval shaped and have layers. Also the tectonic plates of the earth can move around and hit each other and it could happen that the plates can crack and cause earthquakes like the shell of an egg can crack also causing an egg quake that is far less destructive, but still occurs when you crack an eggshell.
