Six Strong Earthquakes Within Six Days – Another Expected
In the last week there have been six strong earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 or greater. Most of these occurrences have been around the ring of fire, but one was in Sikkim, India on a different tectonic plate. There appears to be some sort of chain reaction continuing, indicating adjustment in geological pressures and shifting of tectonic plates which may result in another major earthquake within the next couple of weeks.

The severity, impact or severity of an earthquake is measured using the logarithmic Richter scale in units of “Magnitude”. The scale ranges from “0″ to “10+” and the movement along each unit increases in a logarithmic fashion. For example, an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 has a shaking strength that is 31.5 times greater than an earthquake of magnitude 4.0. A magnitude 6.0-6.9 earthquake can be destructive in areas of up to 160 kilometres across in populated areas.

Over the last few days the following earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 or greater have been reported from different areas of the world:
- September 12, 2011 at 22:44 UTC, magnitude 6.2, near north coast of New Guinea, P.N.G
- September 14, 2011 at 18:10 UTC, magnitude 6.1 near Aleutian Islands, Alaska
- September 15, 2011 at 7:53 UTC, magnitude 6.0, east of The North Island, New Zealand
- September 15, 2011 at 8:00 UTC, magnitude 6.2, near the east coast of Honshu, Japan
- September 15, 2011 at 19:31 UTC, magnitude 7.3, Fiji region
- September 18, 2011 at 12:40 UTC, magnitude 6.9, Sikkim, India
There are about 120 of magnitude 6.0-6.9 earthquakes that happen every year. However, in the last week alone we’ve seen six. At this rate, we’re tracking at a rate to have almost three times that amount this year. The frequency and pattern of these tremors makes it seem like there is some sort of chain reaction occurring.
Theories have been put forth to explain what is happening and predict what is to come next. Many of these theories are on the extreme fringe of conspiracy theories and lack much credibility. Nonetheless, as with any theory, there sometimes is an element that can be used to get closer to the truth. One of the theories has to do with a meteor that has returned to earth’s proximity and may be affecting the earth’s gravity balance. Another theory points to solar flares and rays reaching the earth that affect the earth’s electro-magnetic fields. Many individuals believe that the earth’s rotational axis has shifted and that it is causing changes in climate, waves, and gravity resulting in hurricanes, earthquakes and tornadoes.
Regardless of the reason, there does seem to be increased earthquake activity. It is likely that these occurrences are created by subtle influences of the friction points that maintain the tectonic plates surrounding the earth in balance. Once shifting begins among the larger plates, such as the North American plate then it inevitably will result in adjustments along the faults of many, if not all of the other tectonic plates. This is partially explained in “Warning Tropical Storms Could Trigger Earthquake“, in which this author also makes a prediction of a significant earthquake in the Central American and Caribbean area.
Regardless of whether you believe any of these theories, or whether the occurrence of earthquakes and storms is increasing you should have an emergency plan in place, read about how you can “Make a Disaster Emergency Plan in Only 20 Minutes for Free“.

It’s important to mention that a 6.6 struck Japan on the 16th, with a probable 6.2 aftershock later on. Not just a 6.2.
Old Grim September has brought so far a 6.8 off Alaska and a 6.7 off Argentina on the 2nd. A 6.4 off South Sandwich Isles and a 7.0 near Isangel, Vanuatu on the 3rd.
A 6.2 near Samoa on the 5th. A 6.6 south-west of Medan, Sumatra on the 7th. A rarity, a 6.4 near Campbell River, B.C. on the 9th. 5 Quakes ranging 6.0-6.3 from
Sept. 11 – 15th.
On Sept 15 there were two 6+ quakes off New Zealand and Japan, and a 7.3 in the Fiji region. Following many hours later on the 16th in Japan, there were 4 quakes ranging from 5.2 to 5.6 off Honshu, Japan, and in that same 2 and a half hour period there was a 6.7 and a 6.0 probable aftershock off Honshu, Japan. Following this great tension off Japan’s coast, the Sakurajima Volcano erupts with static lightning. This is appearently a normal occurence, though it followed the quakes.
The 17th was very quiet with minimal tremors near Japan and many, if not hundreds of tremors near California. Nothing really unusual there, but the minimal activity appears to be increasing. There were two small quakes from 2.5 to 3.4 in the Greater LA area last week as well, something that I cannot find anything of in the past 2 months. Not once. The 18th brought a 6.9 to Sikkim, India near Nepal killing at least 48 people and injuring many, a 6.0 aftershock followed over an hour later.
There are still 11 days left to this month. We haven’t seen as many lives lost to this month as last, but we have seen a 37% increasing of 6+ magntiude quakes.
A little bit of info: We had 158 6+ quakes for the entirety of 2009. 174 6+ quakes for the entirety of 2010, and we’ve had 172 6+ quakes up until September 19th, 2011.
In the past two weeks alone there have been over 14 6+ magnitude earthquakes.

And I meant to say 6.7 there at the beginning, apologies.

I believe one of them you predicted…
