Winter Wonderland

The beauty of glaciers and ice formations attract people all over the world. Glaciers are very famous for those who like to travel, like to climb them, like to take picture, or famous for just sinking the Titanic.

Glaciers are also very dangerous. Parts of the glaciers fall off and sometimes land in the ocean. These are also known as icebergs. Ships, like the Titanic, can sink if the ship hits them.

Glaciers are known to be hundreds to thousands years of age. The structure of the glaciers takes hundreds of years to become a beautiful shape. This happens with the climate getting warmer and cooler. Glaciers also move. Not like running, but by the glacier melting and the water running until the water freezes again.

Most glaciers are found in the Poles, but not every one is found there. There are some found in the Oceania and New Zealand. Glaciers need snow and needs to freeze during the winter and be cool in the summer. They need those requirements to be able to stay frozen. For glaciers to grow quickly, they need precipitation. Like snow, freezing rain, avalanches, and wind-drifted snow.

Everyone has heard at least something about global warming and how the weather is getting warmer. Global Warming is also effecting the glaciers too. Once a landmark is now turned to nothing. More than hundreds of glaciers have retreated to the mountains because of the warm weather.

Glaciers attract people all over the world. I hope it will attract you too.
