Precious Wildernesses: The Last of the Virgin Earth
Marvel at the beauty of nature’s remaining uncorrupted treasures. What can you do to preserve them?
Rapid urbanization of the Earth for the past two centuries have reached the hilt –creating slow, devastating and unrecoverable effects that has damaged the environment. All of these will ultimately hurt us in the end.
There used to be uninhabited ecosystems in many portions of the Earth. Due to the development of cities and towns, these are no longer sustainable and are even dead. It’s a rarity to find a truly wild part of the world. Environmental advocate Conservation International recently compiled a list of the earth’s last wildernesses. Here are five of them:
1. THE AMAZON RAINFOREST, found in parts of Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela.
2. THE SERENGETI, located in Kenya and Tanzania; famous for its national parks, game reserves and wildlife.
3. THE MOJAVE DESERT, the dry, arid region of the southwestern United States.
4. THE NAMIB DESERT in Angola and Namibia; home to the highest sand dunes in the world.
5. PATAGONIA, the southernmost region of South America.
These are just some of the most beautiful places on Earth. It’s sad that man-made climate change is threatening to destroy them all. Help conserve our environment and be responsible citizens. Mother Nature can thank us, and the next generation too.

You have made some good points about how urbanization is destroying our beautiful planet, and we all can do something about it, if we take it up collectively.
Monica.
