Modern Fossils

Think for a moment that big hurricane destroyed our civilization. What forward generation will find about us in their archaeological researches? An artist Christopher Lock has some special opinion about it.

Iphones, ipods, guns and nintendo controllers – all that will be just a fossils after our civilization will disappear. These great devices, that served us for so long time, indeed just like as some sword or vessel for an ancient Greeks.

Christopher Lock already preceded the future – he made a models of technology fossils. That funny and also
seriously pictures take us to the near future. Take a look at your laptop, that’s how it will look after one hundred years, but sure you don’t bother about it.

Christopher also knows what name will give the archaeologists to each finding item, similar to today’s historical findings, our mobile phone will be called “Deferovoculae cellarius”. This unit evolved directly from the Deferovoculae latericus (Brick Phone) and signals the beginning of an extremely accelerated evolution of the entire Deferovoculae family.

I have imagined my laptop as such a fossil and I decided to destroy my devices now, rather than give them become like this.

Very clever! I did this as a lesson in my grade 8 Social Studies class a few years ago. We put plaster of paris in paper cups, pressed objects like paper clips when the plaster was almost cured, to make fossils.

I’ve come to the conclusion that most techie toys are obsolete by the time we get them home and get them out of the box.
