Weather Talk

The weather is going crazy again. Just this morning, the sun beamed down searingly from the blueness of the sky; but now, heavy rain is falling everywhere. Isn’t it crazy how fast the weather can change in just a matter of days or even hours? And in that respect, it is very similar to life.

Life with its endless ups and downs: one moment, you are being buoyed up to the clouds, the next moment, you are crashing back down unceremoniously to the ground. Like the weather, life is unpredictable. Sometimes it is sunny and warm for us then in the blink of an eye, the summery episode is suddenly over and we are jolted back into the darkness and a storm of problems would come pouring down on us, just like that.

But as the French say “Ces’t la vie, ces’t la vie,” such is life. With the suddenness of it all, there isn’t much to do but grit your teeth and bear the storms as they come and learn from the damages they have done. Of course, it is also important to note that life isn’t always unkind. I like to think of it as a well-crafted balance: as laughter is tempered by tears, triumphs contrast with losses and celebrations oppose to mournings. 

After all, how can we appreciate and fully-appreciate the beauty of summer if we have never tasted the gloom of winter?
