Tornado in Joplin

The town of joplin has been hit with a destructive tornado.

The town of Joplin, Missouri, was hit by the most devastating tornado in decades. Over half a mile wide and three-quarters of a mile long, the tornado wreaked devastating havoc and leveled the town in a matter of minutes. With a climbing death toll, rescues are hurrying to find as many people as possible in an effort to save lifes.

Unfortunately, the town was not hit by one tornado but a series of storms that seem to add insult to injury. To get a glimpse at how powerful the storm was, watch this video of the storm filmed by Basehunters team of storm chasers.

There is not much that can be said about the pain and hurt the residents of Joplin must feel after seeing their town reduced to rumble, and the most that can be done (besides donating or assisting in the relieve effort) is praying for the affected people and the town.

Simple unreal everytime I see footage of this, my heart really goes out to all of them. I grew up outside Philadelphia. Almost the same population as Joplin – one major large hospital. I can’t wrap around my head if this happened there..all of a sudden I can see from one end of town to the other, now having a direct view of the hospital (which is not possible now) – with all the trees, homes gone. It just doesn’t register. I can’t begin to imagine how they feel. Really heartbreaking!

I completely agree. No one should have to suffer through something like this. I hope the town is able to pull through.
