So you have acknowledged that you are a mad scientist up to no good. Well don’t dream but read this because this will help in your journey to “hell”. We give you the top 10 advice when going after volcanoes!
1. If the volcano you are visiting is active, do BE Careful! You’ve heard me. It could quickly turn nasty. Always consult the experts first! They’ll show you a nice comfortable and safe place to watch from!
2. Now, I know it’s hot up these volcanoes, but you must promise to wrap up. You will need several extra layers of clothes to put on-a nice, thick thermal vest would be ideal. Yes, it might start off warm at the foot of a volcano but, mark my words, it can get ever so nippy at the top!
3. You must watch out for those moving lava flows, and whatever you do, DON’T WALK OVER ONE! Well, they sometimes look rock solid on top, but believe me, underneath, the rocks will be bubbling more fierily than one of my pepperoni hot pots. You could really put your foot on it.
4. Thick soled boots are a must. Yes, even in summer. Volcanic rock can be as sharp as razors; it’d slice right through flimsy trainer things you wear so much.
5. Geysers are something you don’t want to mess with. They are hot spring very lovely to look. But always, always, stick to the paths. You never know when a thin crust of rock may be hiding a pool of scorching water. Put one foot wrong and you’ll be boiled alive. Then, you will be sorry you didn’t listen to the expert!
6. If you’re near a volcano that’s even thinking about producing a high speed lava flow, GET OUT FAST! It will always win!
7. Now if you make it safely to the crater, watch out for volcanic domes that can grow inside. Sometimes they’ll just suddenly explode without warning! Never ever go near one that’s less than 10 years old.
8. It might sound obvious, but I’ll mention this one just in case- don’t camp nears streams running down from volcanoes. You wouldn’t really want to be swept away by a flood or lava flow now, would you?
9.And you’d best avoid craters that are full of gas, too. Those volcanic gases can be horribly poisonous. You might not be able to hold your breath for long enough to get away. I can’t bear to think of it!
10. Finally, if you must go, always treat volcanoes, violent or otherwise, with respect. After all, you can never tell what they’re up to.
So now, you are ready to go on a mission to your volcano. Have a splashing good fun!
Adios!
