The Difference Between Scattered and Isolated Thunderstorms
What is the difference between scattered and isolated thunderstorms.
Mother nature tends to have any degree of nasty weather outside all year around. In some areas around the world, there are different types of nasty weather then others. It is all dependent upon the climate of what you get and there have been any number of disasters in recent years, but really throughout history. One of the more common and deceptively dangerous types of storms would be thunderstorms.
I am sure many have turned on the news and have heard in the forecast that there are going to be scattered thunderstorms. Then at other times there have been isolated thunderstorms. Yet, I’m sure that many have asked, what is the difference between these two things? What is the difference between an isolated thunderstorm and a scattered thunderstorm. Well as it turns out, that the explanation is in the words.
A scattered thunderstorm is a series of thunderstorms that are all across a larger area. These are most times minor, but it is not for certain. Still they are mostly all over the board, smaller in scope and therefore less likely to target a certain area. Likely the storms are going to come over in small bursts. Perhaps often times the scattered thunderstorms are over a larger city or perhaps several smaller towns.
An isolated thunderstorm is over one area. It can be a bit more dangerous and lead to far more hazardous conditions then its scattered counterparts. It is isolated over a smaller area, perhaps a part of a town or a small town or spread out otherwise, hence the term isolated thunderstorm. It may cause more damage and be more dangerous, but once again, that is not for certain.
Now you know the difference between scattered and isolated thunderstorms. Both levels of thunderstorms are not to be taken lightly. As with all weather, you should take the proper precautions. Stay away from the outdoor area or if you are stranded outside, do not stand right next to trees or areas with water. Most importantly, one should be safe out there.
