Adventures That Nature Provides

Nature has controlled this planet for millions of year; going “GREEN” now, really is not going to make a difference.

Nature is full of adventures, from earthquakes to tsunamis, as well as tornadoes and hurricanes, as life threatening as these are; it fascinates young and old alike. While I have never had to live in any location where this is common. I did feel the beginning wrath of a hurricane, while away on vacation in the Caribbean. It was very windy and the sea was very rough, but I truly felt it as our plane took off we rocked and was hurdle about like a toy. Once we got above the storm I was quite grateful we had made it to safe level. Then I began to think about the people below, in the mist of heavy rain and high winds. I just suffered a little wind and rain; these people will be in the mist of it until it was over. A big hurricane was about to hit the island; and by the time we landed, it was all over the televisions in the airport near my home, that the island was hit really hard.

Some of these adventures from nature can be quite devastating to a particular area; causing  a flood, tossing cars around like toys, causing buildings to collapse to name just a few. No matter how we try to understand, or prepare for such events, technology is very limited and still leaves us wondering.

A tsunami is an earthquake that occurs under the ocean. An earthquake is when a plate moves or shifts underground,  causing structures that are above the plate to shake and shift. Even after a couple hours later there is still small tremors that may or may not register on the Richter scale. A tsunami occurs when the plate under the oceans shifts, creating a wave that travels across the water.  It starts as a small wave at first, by the time it hits land,  the wave is so large that it destroys large coastlines for hundreds of miles, killing people and destroying billions of dollars in property.

Tornados can happen anywhere; but are most common in the Midwest, wiping out large pieces of land, structure and livestock. It is not uncommon to see a cow or horse picked up and flung half way across the state. Farmers suffer a big loss, and so they try their best to keep their losses to a minimum during the tornado season.

The sad part with any of these adventures from nature is that we cannot predict them, which is one of the many reason I wonder why so many people are concerned about planet earth. This planet has endured many changes, adventures and devastating disasters over time and yet it continues to function; we really don’t have any control, we cannot influence it one way or another.

Another action of nature that I find truly awesome is volcanoes. The way the heat builds up under the ground starts to bubble and eventually it throws hot lava into the sky, which lands and runs down the sides, creating another outer layer of the volcano. The Hawaiian Islands, are made from underground volcanoes, since they created rock hard surfaces from the red hot lava that explodes from these volcano’s

Just as dangerous  as these natural disasters are, in some cases they are helpful, cleansing areas with wind and rain, or by providing grounds that contain rich soil, as what happens to the ground after a volcano eruption.
