Here’s another post about ‘ amazing rock formations’. I hope you like it too.
Sail Rock

Sail Rock also known as Parus Rock is a natural sandstone monolith. This awesome looking rock formation that looks like the outline of a ship’s sail is located on the shore of the Black Sea in Krasnador Krai, Russia. Sail Rock has a more than 1 meter thick, 20 meters long and stands about 25 feet tall.
Orbicular Granite

The markings on the rock aren’t man-made; they’re created by geological processes. This type of rock formation is called ‘orbicular granite’. Occurrences of such ‘orbicular granite is very rare. The fascinating rock formation on the above picture is located near the town of Calder in Chile. This unusual plutonic rock type is also known as ‘orbicular rock or orbiculite’. The uniqueness of this rock is due to orbicules – concentrically layered, spherical structures, probably formed through nucleation around a grain in a cooling magma chamber.
Drangarnir

One of the most beautiful and fascinating islands in the world is Faroe Island of Denmark. A geological wonder that one can find in the island is Drangarnir, the collective name for two sea stacks between the islet Tindholmur and the island Vagar. The larger stack is named Stori Drangur and the smaller is Litli Drangur.
Stac Levenish

Examine carefully the picture of the rock formation called Stac Levenish or Stac Leibhinis. This amazingly unique sea stack is located in St. Kilda archipelago of Scotland lying 2½ km off Village Bay on Hitra. Well, I hope you were able to figure out what this rock’s appearance looks like. This 62 meters high rock formation which is part of the rim of an extinct volcano appears to have a profile of a ‘face’.
The Table

This table is certainly not for dining but I would say that dining on this table will surely be a one-of-a-kind adventure. The Table or also known as Table Mountain is located in British Columbia, Canada. It is a 2,021-metre I height and rises over 530 meters above the surface of Garibaldi Lake. Don’t dare climb ‘The Table’ because sections of the volcano have collapsed, creating steep and exceptionally rotten rock walls on all sides. The last time it was climbed was in 1983.
Stone Mountain

This spectacular quartz monzonite dome monadnock called Stone Mountain of Georgia, USA is regarded as “the world’s largest exposed piece of granite” but it’s not. Stone Mountain, though often called a pink granite dome, is actually a quartz monzonite (not granite). It is also popular because of the enormous bas-relief on its north face. It’s the largest bas-relief in the world. Three famous personalities are carved – Jefferson Davis, Gen. Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson of the Confederate States of America.
Sugarloaf Mountain

Sugarloaf Mountain or Pão de Açúcar in Portuguese is a peak in the famous city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. This astounding monolithic morros of granite and quartz rises straight from the water’s edge of Guanabara Bay with a height of 396 meters above sea-level.
Courthouse Butte

This scenic and beautifully colored rock formation called Courthouse Butte is in Oak Creek in Arizona, USA.
Bell Rock

Just east of the Courthouse Butte is the famous attraction called Bell Rock, a butte composed of horizontally bedded sedimentary rock.
El Penola

The stunning monolithic formation called Guatape Rock View or El Peñon de Guatape in Spanish in the town of Guatape has a height of 2,135 meters M.S.L. The ‘Peñon’ has 185 m3 of rock mass and it is 385 m long, with an approximate weight of 10,000,000 tons. It has 644 stairs, which can be utilized to go to the top, built in one of its rock breaks.
Flowerpot Island

This two wonderful rock pillars which looks like flowerpots is where Flowerpot Island’s name was derived. Originally, there were three rock pillars in the area but the third one collapsed in 1903. Flowerpot Island, a popular tourist destination, is an island located in Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada.
Devil’s Kitchen

This unusual rock formation is a kind of Sinkhole called The Devil’s Kitchen in Soldier’s Pass in Sedona, Arizona, USA. The huge rock in the middle is called ‘The Grand Piano’.
Devil’s Bridge

Another captivating rock formation in the area is the Devil’s Bridge
Half Dome

Half Dome is a magnificent granite dome in Yosemite National Park in California, USA. This granite stone that rises 1,444 meters above the valley floor is regarded as the most familiar site in the Yosemite’s.
